It's doing my head in the amount of people claiming Kompany would make all the difference to this performance. He wouldn't solve a thing.

He wouldn't stop us being wide open in the midfield. He wouldn't stop them dictating the play. He wouldn't stop them firing ball after ball into our fucking box.

Change the set up Manuel or fuck off. You're costing us dearly.

I'm not even sure we're overrun in midfield tonight. We've been pinned very, very deep and have not been able to pass our way out at all. I suppose another midfielder might allow someone to stay forward and try to win the balls played out but isn't that really Bony's job?

Tactics are working so badly any change would improve this. They aren't being closed down at the back, we're just blocking a few passes. In midfield they extra width and an extra man in the centre. They can run at the inside and outside left position without impunity. Sagna can't attack the left and Zabaleta can't support Navas when he the Spaniard is (having to) do loads of running around away from the right. AND Zab can't get up to overlap AND even if he could we know that Navas doesn't come inside to make the space. When we attack it's mostly in ones and twos on scrappy breaks. When we do get a few men forward we put in crosses, they're ok crosses, but every time we would have been better playing it around the edge of the box more. Players are taking the low risk option - get the ball away quick so they don't get caught, because every break could lead to a Sevilla goal.

Really, Manuel has messed this up big time.

Easily fixed. Stick Sterling on the left and De Bruyne can do a free role in front of midfield.

Sevilla are a organized team that move the ball about and manage occasionally to get in behind through the wings and get balls into the box and we have struggled to deal with that threat. But it is clear that when we get on the ball, things happen with the likes of Yaya Toure. The point is possession is not the key, organization and efficiency is and as long as we sort out the defense in the second half and keep our shape then we will win this match.

Kompany's absence is a curious issue but we need him back organizing things. Another body in the midfield will help but the key is that we defend well and keep our shape.

How many times does Pellegrini need to see the 442 fail in Europe before the penny fucking drops.

Defensively we look leakier than a fucking sieve. Shitting me up every time Sevilla attack!

Not too bad going forward, though. Not too sure about Bony in this team.

Bony off for Fernando at HT for me.

Don't panic Mr Mainwaring

Sevilla are technically very good. They are no mugs. City full backs struggling - Kev and Sterling not up to the pace yet. Navas is doing more than most.
Not convinced with Otomendi.Come on City a win is needed.

So Bony's constant scuffing of shots has paid off. I'd be bringing him off for a more solid midfield. Would have to be Fernando I guess but I'd be pleased with Kompany instead.
