I know Bernardo's form has been patchy for awhile but i really don't see what Gundogan brings to that position that Bernardo wouldn't.

Gundogan’s ball retention is excellent and he plays some delightful passes at times. Bernardo has fantastic work rate but he’s failed to recapture his form from 2018/2019. I think the Mendy incident affected him.
