It’s not in the rules that you HAVE to benefit from it to be called offside. You have to either be in active play (he was), interfere with an opponent OR gain an advantage by being there. People are making rules up to be aggrieved about it. He was offside. The only reasonable argument is surrounding phases of play. I don’t know at what point you are supposed to determine it’s a new phase and the offside is irrelevant.Let’s be real though, does he benefit from being offside? No. Because we then go back and everyone resets. So it’s bollocks
