Marquinhos scored attacking Dias' zone...Dias was too busy corner handbagging with Paredes and switched off

Micah and Carragher blamed Gundo for not playing tight enough on Marqhinos even whilst expaining this was zonal marking.

I have to see again, but seemed perhaps it was mixed. Zonal marking (centre) and man marking (near post/posts?) approach as Dias and wheoever else was over there (Rodri?) seemed either worried about the post or were told to play tighter.

My problem with Gundo playing tight on Marquinhos is he's slower than Marghinos. Maybe that's why he zonal marked him. It just didn't matter as he went to his right were there were more defenders present which acted like a basketball pick and roll.

With Gundo's lack of pace that means he has no chance to recover/react (i.e. don't close down/man mark players with the most pace with slow players and aren't great at positioning/marking)

I sense it was a strategy to prevent scoring from that part. Maybe that's where our analysts saw they tend to score.

They ALMOST scored one that way shortly afterwards via Di Maria's corner that was otherworldly to the near post.
