Palmer plays with a calmness that shows he is first team ready. Even the decision making is there. McAtee is not there yet. He is correctly below Palmer in the pecking order, but only because he’s earlier in the process. When you see McAtee making that pointless flick with his heel and losing it, it’s the difference between clearly being the next to break through and being potentially sent out on loan to develop.
