How does Foden not start over Gundogan (big fan of his but not at it since he came back) ?

Think Pep assumes we need Gundo's defensive qualities to support Kova in midfield ?
Unfortunately, the current Gundo is much slower and sometimes the game passes him by.
Cannot watch the game, but it will interesting if/when Pep brings on Phil or Jack ?
Early substitutions seldom happens though...
