Mateo Kovacic

I agree with Tolmie, incredible for an 18 year old but one glaring issue is a severe lack of pace, the last game he played in (I think it was his last game) he was chasing an opposition player back to our goal, he looked like he was running in treacle...he could be one of those players who is good/very good at a lot of things but not outstanding in ONE ?

Modern day Ian Brightwell or Michael Brown

My Chelsea m8 really likes him & says he’s a work horse.

I see pep changing it up next year with a new system. Foden going central with license to roam a little. Rodri & Phillips or kovacic sitting deeper with stones surprising everybody by bypassing them & joining in the final third.

I see a year of new football at city :-)

A very solid signing but don't really see where he fits

I don't think he has enough final 3rd quality to be the two 8's behind Haaland, think once Gundo leaves Foden or Alvarez are more likely options for that role

Playing style he's closest to Bernardo, he's technically very good, great close control, press resistant and great work rate but he's never played on the wings

He isn't going to start over Rodri and Stones when fully fit unless one of them are being rested

Great player, smart fee but yea struggling.to see how he fits

But if Pep wants him he surely has a plan for him

Great start to the window

Agreed with this. He's a good squad player, and think will feature in one of two roles:

- Back-up for one of the two number 8s (I guess KDB and Bernardo now Gundo looks set to leave)

- If KDB not playing, then maybe we'll do two holding midfielders and then a number 10 (Foden or Alvarez) where he and Rodri sit a bit deeper (with Stones also joining in there)
