The 20-yr old Blackpool winger who ripped us apart when he came on as a sub last season. Seems to be a lot of talk about him going to a bigger club.

Anyone else think he'd be more effective as a winger than AJ? Plus he scores plenty as well. 12 goals in 21 appearances so far this season.

Though I risk the scorn of Bluemoon in saying this, I don't think it's hard to more effective as a winger than AJ these days, I watch games up and down the league and see more impact from bottom half wingers like Jarvis and Dyer in the role of winger than Johnson. Johnson is great if there are 10 minutes left and teams have given up though, you'll find few non-strikers with a better finish than him.

I don't know anything about Philips but to me no English wingers ever seem to turn out great, many of them show glimpses of greatness but none have the consistency and vision of the likes of Robben, Ribery, Hazard, Navas, Di Maria, and Pedro.

Scored a decent hatrick the other day but, like many a winger,he looks very inconsistent to me,at 20yrs old however,i would think he could improve plenty and become an effective player.I reckon Redmond would be the better option if we were going for potential.

I would be happier signing a more proven type such as Blackburns Hoilett or Swanseas Sinclair, who i think has come on tremendously under Rogers and would be a fine squad addition.

Whatever,i'm with the above poster,AJ is not the answer for us,he's far too lightweight and feeble.

I think he would be worth a shout. We need young good players who are now willing to sit on the bench and wait their turn. Not big name players that will spit their dummy out. He looks okay and could get better!

The boys a talent, he will be back in the Premier league again soon but i wouldnt want him here. For his sake really, he wouldnt get a game.

Are you sure? Had a good game when he came on. It hardly ripped us apart.

He looked pretty useful to me and caused Mancini to replace Kolarov with Zab.

Stephen Hawkins could manage that......

Anyone with pace can skin Kolarov, it isn't hard at all, just kick the ball down the flank and as he will be stood a meter away and has no pace, just chase the ball and you're past him. Clichy on the other hand will close you down and race you to the ball...
