Max n Paddy or Phoenix Nights?

Spot on Kev.
Max & Paddy is for those who didn't pick up on all the layers and hidden jokes in Phoenix Nights.
Sort of a simple man's version, but still funny.

No comparison in comedy quality - Pheonix every time.

sorry if this offends anyone. each to their own. i easily preferred phoenix nights. 1000 times better than max and paddy. imho i felt peter kay "dumbed down" when making max and paddy to appeal to a wider audience. i'm no bamber gascoigne myself and did find max and paddy funny but it was more obvious 'viz' humour.

How many people here who enjoyed Phoenix have ever being to a Working Mens Club/Social Club?

Half of the enjoyment that I got out of Phoenix was because it parodied the social club scene so well.

Used to DJ them from time to time.
Did one in Chorley of all places once, and it was just as Peter Kay potrayed it.
Remember the requests for Shane Twane, etc..
Fookin hilarious.

Not read all the posts, but seen a few I agree with. It's Phoenix Nights every time. The writing is miles ahead of Max and Paddy, which is a bit infantile and obvious at times for me. Phoenix Nights is one of those programmes you have to watch a few times to get all the jokes.

I agree with the poster above who said Early Doors. What a gem of a programme, especially the miserable old Blue. You also need to get hold of That Peter Kay Thing....awesome.
