MCFC Hyde Rd Stadium

[It just had to be BLUE.]

I'm told City's home before Maine Rd is where the bus depot is on Hyde Rd..

Is there any pictures of the old stadium ?

Not where the current bus depot is on the corner of Devonshire St..... it was a little further up Hyde Road towards Gorton. Bennett Street is immediately before the railway bridge, turn onto Bennett Street and the site was / is on the left 50 / 100 yards up.

If you can get any of Gary James books on the history of City then there are pics in there.
In the 80's / 90's the site was GM Buses skid testing patch!
Manchester Minibus Agency were based on the site too and I took my mini bus MIDAS test on the site which I loved doing!

King George V (I think) visiting the ground. I think he made 2 visits.... Gary will hopefully come along!

And during WW1 the ground was used to keep horses...

Gary james posted a photo earlier this month that he took from the train and I am sure he said it was the old Hyde road if you look on his facebook page at photos and go back to 5th october then I am sure it is the picture I was thinking off , I could be way of the mark as well

Not sure that is the site..... if you are on the train going to Piccadilly, Hyde Road / the old bus depot skid patch is/ was on your left hand side. That picture has Eastlands in the background, which is on your right

I am sure I saw something but not sure what it was if you get the picture

I found these online recently, prob someone took them from Gary in the first place knowing the internet! But this shows things in more detail.
I always have a gawp at the area when i'm on the train - viewed it more as where all the containers are rather than the bus depot, and before the old hyde road hotel finally got demolished went there a few times.

Damn! You replied before I deleted it...... on a few beers today..... realised as soon as I posted that the ground was on the right, not the left.... this beer is playing tricks on my mind ;)
