MCFC SALFORD

Mum and Dad met on the Kippax but moved to Salford when they married, I went to Light Oaks and Hope High in the 70's and was totally outnumberred though none of them went.

When they won 1st title for 26yrs? I was driving a taxi in the Salford area, faced the music and went out working that night wearing my City top. No hassle but lots of "we don't hate you really" comments, which was worse.

Hate them with a passion, can't help it.

Eldest Daughter now married to a rag, though don't think he's ever been! and due 1st granchild in August, let battle stations commence. Don't think her hubbies to fussed but his Dad will deffinately be pushing for the new baby to be a rag!

Fuck off MCFC13 you went to Hope High in the sixties

be patient with the grandchild thing it all turns out in the end

I use to booze in The Flemish Weaver/Pied Piper/The Griffin/The Corp/The Ship/The Woolpack in the mid to late 90's , and I was definitely outnumbered .
Seem to remember very few of the rags actually went to the Swamp .

Who taught you to type

born and raised in eccles and have to say it is red. in my year at high school (st.pats) there was me and another blue in the entire year and he wasn't arsed. he turned out a good blue though.
funny story from eccles though, i used to get the shit kicked out of me by 5th year lads at st.pat's when i was 1st year because i was a blue/gobby little get.
when they came back with the '91 ecwc, i knew a few of the older lads were going for a drink at the white horse on eccles old road. i slipped my city home top on and covered it with a tracky top. turned up over the road from the boozer a bit before the rag bus came. there were my older tormentors acting cool with pints of lager and cigs. i started shouting over at one of them who used to give me real good hidings. he spotted me and tried to laugh it off in front of his mates. i undid the tracky and unveiled the sky blue and shouted "millsy, you lanky red bastard." most of the rags were laughing as i was just a mouthy 12 year old blue but "millsy" lost all decorum whilst chasing me about half a mile up eccles old road. jesus wept, i paid for that the next time he got hold of me on the school bus!!

I'd say about 80% red in Salford.

Of course, if you filter it down to match going football fans I actually know far more blues who go to City than I do reds who go to OT. Probably 70-30 split in favour of City!

I'm Salford born and bred, and also a Light Oaks & Hope High veteran, but of the 80s vintage (can anything from Salford be described as vintage?).

At Light Oaks one of the cups we played for was the manchester united trophy (great!), the final of which was always played at the cliff.

150 kids in my year at Hope. I reckon about there were no more than half a dozen who owned up to being Blue. Took year upon year of abuse only for the 5-1 to happen the Sept after I left, so never got the opportunity to give it back to most.

Anyway, there's nothing like being a Blue, especially being from one of the 'enclaves'. The rags will never get it!
