Pardon my ignorance but what does it actually stand for?

EDIT: Just looked it up, and it's a fucking Oasis song. Embarrassing. Blues really really need to get over this very shit band.
oh look at me im such a special little hipster who hates any popular band ever!!

it just so happens the two main people behind Oasis are massive City fans (well Liam doesnt really seem to know jack shit about the club other than who Tevez is). would you rather have a Take That song banner up there?

personally I wouldnt mind another banner with something Johnny Marr wrote. There Is a Light That Never Goes Out maybe?

Apart from it being an oasis song I think the phrased actually fits us quite well, since apparently we sold our soul in 08.

Fair point. I do like it when blues face our criticisms head on, like the Balotelli song making reference to him being "good at darts" and having "an allergy to grass" etc. It takes ammunition away from the critics.

Have a nice day darling. Enjoy watching X Factor, reading the Daily Mail, listening to Oasis and going to your job in a warehouse then getting drunk and having a fight.

Ha ha that's funny, it sounds like my weekend, most weekends in fact, guess I'll have to come to terms with being working class. But then again I'm proud of my roots whereas you probably dismiss yours when amongst your "new" friends. Does your family embarass you ? Do you blank old friends if they don't fit your identikit life ? I'm not saying you're shallow but I doubt you know the meaning of soul.

Re: Re:

Well you certainly won't find 'soul' in an Oasis song, lets be honest. I can't think of a band more devoid of soul. Whether you like them or not, surely you wouldn't argue that their music has any real soul or feeling?

As for the 'identikit life' comment - this is exactly what I'm complaining about! So many people accept low standards in their lives: crap mainstream TV, shocking music, jobs that make them unhappy etc etc. My wish is for people to reject all that and to strive for something better.

And I am as working class as anybody, by the way. I'm also proud of my roots. But that isn't a reason to accept poor quality, is it? Many - possibly most in fact - great artists are working class.

Nope, I don't hate 'any popular band ever'. I'm a huge fan of Led Zep, Beatles, Smiths, Stones, Floyd and loads more extremely popular bands. And I'm definitely not a hipster - I don't go for cool NME bands. I just have high standards, which I think everybody should. Look at the quality artists which have City connections: Johnny Marr, Badly Drawn Boy, The Fall, Doves and loads more. But fans have to latch on to Oasis! I'm not trying to tell anyone what to like or that my opinion is more valid than anyone else's (sorry if I gave that impression) but I just wish people would strive for quality in their lives rather than letting the mainstream media decide what is worthwhile.

Very shit band? How many awards did they win again??

Only because you don't like them doesn't necessarily make them shit now does it?

Re: Re:

Great idea, maybe even put a picture on it on Malcolm Allison and Joe Mercer, even a blue background with white lettering-can't believe no one hasnt already done this.

There is a city banner saying 'totally wired' which is a fall track . And one done by this very website with a smiths lyric .

So you are way off...

what's happened here is that you've tried to be a smart-arse whilst having a dig at oasis but have let your mask slip. a few people commented on your first post, you looked back at it and realised what an arrogant prat you seem. then you deleted your post so that nobody else could see it. unluckily for you, a couple of posters (myself included) has quoted it already and there's nothing you can do about that.

you talk about people accepting their lot in life and lacking ambition to strive for better. who the fuck are you talking on behalf of? i consider myself an average bloke. i was brought up in salford, have 3 kids and a mortgage and work in a factory that i really cannot stand. i applied to join the police 4 years ago and got through every stage only to be told that there were cutbacks and i wouldn't end up with the job. i don't just accept my job but when you have a family to keep, you often take the safe option.

also, on a saturday night, we have often sat and watched the x-factor. i appreciate it may be well below your standards but trying to find something we can watch as a family is difficult and i actually enjoy having a laugh and a sing-song with my kids.

i also fucking love oasis. i reckon that just about rules me out of any future invitations to your candlelit suppers but quite frankly, you seem a bit of a tit anyway.
