Media bias against City

For the love of all that's holy, the only awards that matter are titles and cups. This bleating about not being awarded this, or that by a bunch of pissed up tossers, is symptomatic of this need for unqualified media adulation, which is a hangover from the days when we were "everyone's second favourite club"! Haven't we moved on people? This is what happens when you are no longer a joke and become a serious challenger. Retain you City sense of humour, but come on, do you really give a flying *uck what these merchant bankers think, or write? Is there an agenda? 100% there is, but we have one too.

I'm sorry, but if you think the players don't care about individual awards then you are deluding yourself. And if players feel that they won't get the recognition they deserve while at City, then they will be less willing to come here. I'd put Yaya's snub for the awards last year as one of the major reasons he spat his dummy out

Exactly. Take Kane, great player who has had a great season but couple that with the media overdrive on the lad and boom goes his value and price through the roof. A positive slant on a club and its players regardless of whether its merited half the time and something the rags enjoy gives the cunts an edge when it comes to getting rid of players they don't want.

Look at us where everyone is shit and a flop if they don't break into the side, we cant fucking give them away.

The media plays a huge part as their narrative seeks into the minds and becomes a fact for the vast majority over a short period of time.

eg Toure last year and Aguero this

I don't believe anyone who says other people's opinion don't matter. if they truly believe that that, then why communicate full stop.

But it's always better I think to have players and manager motivated trying to prove a point. If a team gets beat up, then its always a dangerous time to play them because inevitably they want to bounce back to prove themselves to others.

So I think LVG was the most criticised manager and you think Brendan Rodgers was the most criticised. Interestingly those two managers manages clubs which this forum repeatedly states the media have a bias towards due to their millions of fans.

If anything that further reinforces my point the larger clubs do receive more exposure both positive and negative than refutes my assertion.

I would not disagree with you that bigger clubs get more attention (positive and negative alike) than smaller clubs, as I said that's the way of the world.Liverpool and United are both bigger than City judging by that yardstick (and that yardstick alone). I presume you would not disagree with me that taken as a whole there is far more positive 'good news' media coverage of United than negative. I presume you would also not disagree that in comparable circumstances, City tends to get much rougher treatment in the media than United.

Like I said, it's a short step from understanding that United (and Liverpool) are 'bigger' (by that yardstick) than City to understanding why they get (on the whole) more favourable treatment in the media.

Sometimes the shortest steps are the hardest to take.

That is a bit patronising and in my opinion does not add to the discussion at all. However I do not fully agree City receive less favourable coverage across the board just within specific defined areas which sadly are relevant within the context of being an English club and with the newspapers readership having an interest within the National Team. Namely the promotion of young players, particularly English, through the academy and the way we spend money within the transfer market.

In other areas our coverage is neither gushing with praise or overly critical. In a roundabout way, we have agreed, the performance of the media darlings managers have been much more heavily criticised this year than our own. Which again refutes the argument their is a systematic approach to criticising the club as surely the manager, the figurehead of a club would be the natural target?

A lot of City fans, who do not read Blue Moon, are not even aware of a supposed agenda.
