Media bias against City

The Glazers are also Jewish. Imagine instead of "Oil Rich Arabs" or "Sheikh and Vac" a red top had run a headline saying "Jews continue to milk United" when it was announced what dividend payments they were taking. The editor would have been sacked and the paper may well have gone the same way as the News of The World. The casual racism against our owner would, rightly, not be seen as acceptable against any other group by the public. It should not be acceptable against him. As City fans it is unsurprising that we take such insults so personally regardless of our own ethnicity. We have the best owner in the world. It is painful to us to see him ridiculed in this way.

I couldn't agree more. Cameron takes President Xi to the Etihad as a glorious showcase of inward investment, yet the papers run with how Xi would have preferred to go to Utd! What's there to see? As you say that dump is a showcase for how a club is milked as a cash cow! You'd struggle to find any mention of this in the media, of course, despite it being the obvious reason for the choice of the Etihad over Old Trafford.

And no Toni Duggan, Utd don't have a women's team

And as for Utd being owned by the Glazers, who happen to be Jewish, any reference to ethnic or religeous stereotypes would have serious consequences, but with Arabs it's open season, all our sponsorships are rigged, these companies are all owned by Sheikh Mansour's relatives and chums, of course, that's what "they" do these people.

And yet for all the forward thinking and investment in the future at City the media persists in the "rich man plaything" storyline, viewed through the prism of their prejudice how could it be otherwise.

"In fairness they do go on about Abramovich being Russian more often than not."

Fairness? Not really, there's a diference.

While agreeing with the core of your post, if not all of it, you're right on the ethnicity tag in relation to our owner, but there is a not so subtle difference. When Abramovich is referred to it is always as Russian....Russian billionaire, Russian oligarch etc that's his nationality. When Sheik Mansour is referenced, it's always to his ethnicity as in "Arab owned Man City".

So while Liverpool and Utd are American owned, City is not Emirati owned, but Arab owned.

With Arab owned it invites all sorts prejudices that we know exist below the surface with a lot of people.

Imagine how incongruous it would be if a club were described as African American owned? People would say....what's his ethnicity got to do with it?

Russia has, believe it or not 185 ethnic group! Russians are often described as an ethnic group in their own right, but Abramovich is most likely of Slavic origin, he was born in Saratov on the banks of the Volga River. When he is referred to as Russian it is to denote his nationality, from whence he came, not his ethnic grouping, but like who cares? it shouldn't matter right? Well it seems to with our owner.

PS: Just found out Abramovich is Jewish. He's Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Federation of the Jewish Communities of Russia, interesting, but inconsequential to his ownership, or anything else for that matter.

Jewishness is considered an ethnic grouping in many parts of the world, Russia included, though here in the UK we take a more nuanced view, but could you imagine if the media referred to Chelsea as "Jewish owned"!.....Kaboom!

PPS: And of course Levy at Spurs is Jewish, is that a religion or an ethnicity? His nationality is British...Waffle, Dither and Fudge!!......Why should anyone care?! It doesn't matter, at least it shouldn't.

This is it. For me it doesn't matter whatsoever what the ethnicity/religion/sexuality is of our owners, as long as they are productive and good at what they are doing (running a football club)

However the Gutterpress use this spiteful stick repeatedly when mentioning our owners. They don't mention Bill Kenwrights Religion or his Ethnicity/Nationality when you see articles about Everton.
I noticed it with Fulham as well when they were in the top flight with Al Fayed.

Yes the media have this love-in with United, but I'm certain if ADUG or Qatar Holdings bought the Rags in 2008 they would of quickly lost that love, or at least not have as much preferential treatment towards united.

Finally, this isn't to say the Gutterpress Journo's have personal hatred towards specific demographics - it's just blatantly obvious for me that the way in which they entice readers/website viewers and so on is by playing to the masses and the fact this society does have large numbers of hatred towards certain groups of people.

if our owners were white but were openly Gay, Daily Star and all the other guttersnipes would regularly take the piss out of our "camp" owner and all this shit, with articles suggesting we could possibly be changing our kit colour to pink and blah de blah.
Generating all the backwards scum to click the articles in fulfilling their hatred of homosexuality.
