Yes they do tell lies. Blatant ones.
Take the ‘Pete the Badge’ incident. First off they said they bought the picture with the derogatory caption. Someone proved that was a lie, so they backtracked and said they just picked the name ‘Bertie’s at random. Gary James then proved that was a lie as they’d published an article on their own website not long before that acknowledged that ‘Bert’ was a derogatory term.
They lie about these “random” audience members on Question Time who pop up in different locations. They’re as big a bunch of liars as North Korean TV.
I think this example shows how far they were trying to push the derogatory and piss-taking line with the club. They lied their way out of it because they went too far (even for them).
But it just more of the same m.o. they have been using since the take over.
The BBC managers are trying to get all teams on board against the "cheats" city.
Most of the people who write this stuff probably don't hold the same viewpoint either, they will know (like we do) that this ffp witch hunt is a sham. They are just toeing the party line, as they say.
My enemies enemy is my friend. We are north Korea in all this and all other supporters are encouraged by the media to be the moralistic western countries looking on in horror.
The BBC will drop themselves in the shit from time to time, but their approach is clear. In fact if you look at their article on line right now there is a perfect example. There is a list of the remaining 8 teams ranked in UEFA club index order. City are 3rd on the list....Liverpool are 5th, but the by-line is about Liverpool being 5th, no mention of city who rank in 3rd. I quote:
Liverpool are the fifth-highest ranked team of this year's Champions League quarter-finalists
This is how they do what they do. Not through untruths, but through subversion and embellishments.
