Absolutely insane article in the guardian this morning by Jonathan Wilson , clueless **** suggests Pep "overthought" his tactics for yesterday and criticized Pep's behaviour in the technical area suggesting it made the team anxious.

"Where was character to reassert themselves after conceding an equaliser? (Where, for that matter, was the marking at the corner that led to the equaliser?) Where was the leader to grab the game and yank it back their way?"

Does he know we won ? Did he see us weather a storm as Arsenal played their way back into the game as the first half progressed before several of our leaders showed great character and combined beautifully to score the 2nd goal and grab the game and yank it back our way ?

Even referred to our stroll in the park to beat Arsenal at Wembley last year as "scratchy"

Air brushed out of history..
Seems to have been and yet the other night in the Liverpool Leicester game on bt jake humphries wouldn’t let it drop saying that it could be the difference Liverpool don’t win the league when their penalty was turned down he was clearly pissed off. Is retaining the title isn’t the big story the media want it he dippers winning it is though they all want to be there at Anfield claiming it to be a special day one hole they all sing their shit songs and wave their flags. I just pray we piss on all their chippy teas!

As a matter of interest did anyone watch Sky Football today with Dermot Gallagher ex ref.He usually has his say on these matters and to be fair most of the time I agree with him.Missed todays programme ... just wondered what his view on both incidents was.

DERMOT SAYS: In March, if a ball goes in the net of an attacker's arm it will be disallowed. It's on the list for a law amendment. In defence of Martin Atkinson, he wasn't in a position to see it - next season VAR will be able to intervene. Hopefully, this will be the end of this kind of incident.

I think you've misread the sentiment in that article a fair bit there, Wilson is a tactical historian, not a journalist, and his is an opinion worth considering. I can see his point of view with a lot of what he said there, it's hardly things that weren't known before or haven't been potential concerns. He says numerous times that it worked, his point was more whether the additional complexity was needed and whether its worth it, given the amount of direction it takes at times.

What's a tactial historian ?

Surely the proof of the pudding's in the eating, not just yesterday but throughout Pep's tenure. Some of this moron's digs at us were just plain wrong. Scratchy win at Wembley, no leadership, no character. Just the typical unfounded shite spouted by rent a quote idiots in the media despite overwhelming evdence to the contrary.

He wrote Inverting the Pyramid, which is a very good read if you're interested in the tactical side of the game.

That's not his point, he's not really saying anything about the players there. What he's saying is that with some of the tweaks or surprises that Guardiola does in his tactics, it becomes harder for the players to rely on instinct at times as it still takes a lot of instruction from the sidelines, which you could see quite clearly in the first half against Arsenal. He's not saying its absolutely a bad thing either, just questioning whether its really worth it, as his point was although it worked in terms of the end result, we still had a bit of a wobble for a bit, which didn't happen in a lot of games last year where we got into more of a set routine in terms of how to set up and play.

He's basically saying at times if we do overcomplicate it, the leader becomes Guardiola by default.

As I said would happen yesterday, the media are spending quite a lot of time talking about the (unintentional, if at all) handball, and have conveniently forgotten the obvious penalty ignored.

That’s not even mentioning the very tight offside called against Eric when he put the ball in the back of the net.

The lack of analysis on Laporte's "offside" pissed me right off.

After watching it live, and again later via every possible angle, I am honestly still not sure he was actually offside.

No matter, though, two things are clear:

1. Mustafi was absolutely awful yesterday (played everyone in the stadium on for our first and should have given away a penalty and been sent off for his pull back on Sergio).

2. The standard of officiating in the league, whether through incompetence or corruption, is very poor. The fact that there are reports that Sergio’s third would have been disallowed if VAR had been used also tells us things will likely stay the same after it’s official introduction.

And the media will predominantly cover up inconsistencies and mistakes, especially when it comes to us.
