Classic Ronay is that when people disagree with him he's superior, snooty and condescending. As you can see from his replies on that thread.

The other thing he does is the too cool for school, "None of this even matters anyway, why are you arguing about football on twitter" as he angrily replies to the 45th person commenting on his article.

He chucks a few flowery similes into his writing, stretches a metaphor far beyond the point of breaking and then presumably sits back in his chair feeling smug about how superior he is to the average football journalist.

Cant believe no one has mentioned Klopps after match press conference when he had to pick the press media up as they were all upset!!!!

Couldn't believe what i was seeing or hearing on SS News this morning.

He said to them all - come on guys you all look so down. Its only a blip. The title isn't over yet. Its February...

Absolute madness how biased they all are.

Yeah, I noticed that as well.

If Liverpool don't win the title, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Fleet Street in a state of perpetual light due to the sheer number of candles lit.

There's something about Guardian journalists that lends itself to this feeling of intellectual superiority for some reason. Quite a few of them are like it, and I don't know where they get this exceptionally high self-regard from. Mike Selvey was just the same, and he too hated being questioned and disagreed with, and would respond in exactly the same way.

It's like they believe their own publicity.

Who doesn't feel superior to the average football journalist? This fella feels superior to the average football fan. He isn't really into football imo. He's just lowering himself to steal a living off the game. He probably laughs about it with his little mates.

This guy's a bellend and probably sums up why the Guardian are desperate for donations.

100% changes his views all the time. One minute he is saying Liverpool will not freeze in the title race and the next day he writes an article Tension is beginning to show in Liverpool ranks. Appalling journalist

Ha. That's so true. Pat on the head and well done, salt of the earth working class type people.

Yep. Papers like the Telegraph don't go in for any of this intellectual nonsense, they're firmly in the too clever by half Captain Mainwaring camp.

The Guardian is very Hampstead/Islington intellectual, they send out reporters to walk among the great unwashed and wring their hands at the injustices they suffer, while secretly happy they don't move next door and depress property prices.

Barney probably just upset because he wrote this yesterday morning.

With their lead extended to five points Liverpool would probably have to lose at least twice between now and mid-May to miss out on the title. Their outstanding recent record against the league’s mid-table filler suggests this is a distant prospect.

If Liverpool have an advantage this season it is that Klopp has been able to change his team’s rhythms, to play another way, to find other gears below the most extreme expression of his own gegenpressing, high-velocity attacking style.

3rd February 3019. Barney Ronay. " Liverpool unlikely to freeze in their quest for Manchester City's title".

His prejudice against City is affecting his writing to the extent that he can write such an article in the middle of a Liverpool slump.

I'd be over the moon if we manage to hold on to the title until then

I know they've been in a slump league wise for 28 years but that would be the slump to end all slumps if true. Oh well, maybe 3020 will be their year.

The Guardian's Barney Ronay writes just yesterday that Liverpool won't bottle the title race:

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/feb/03/liverpool-manchester-city-premier-league-title-race

And follows it up tonight saying that they're doing just that:

https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...pool-creaking-defence-west-ham-premier-league

He's always a pompous, self-important smug wanker, but even by his standards this is impressive.

I really think this guy is a total fraud. He is someone who writes in a flowery style like a sixth-form show-off, never breaks any excusive stories, and does little research. There are lots of people like him working in the media these days. This sort of content has been dubbed "churnalism." It's one of the reasons the Guardian is struggling to survive.
