Can't put a price on your soul. I wonder if there is similar funding available nowadays to say you won't go to games anymore because of what city have become?
I would say there is. I’ve had some media contacts try to push me towards an angle. Before FAC final a national broadsheet tried to twist my view and catch me out… I ended up having to get them to pull my name and quotes out of an article which started to go on about FFP and human rights - they’d tried to hoodwink me.

Sadly in a world where printed media is dying the truth doesn't win the race for online clicks

Football focus the usual low standard. Wanking over Arsenal after they fluked a draw in time added over time then won on penalties against our half baked side.

they have to do this, they dont care about facts and reality, football is nothing more than a product to tv companies and they have to create a competition narrative to sell that product so idiots keep consuming, you only have to look at aftv, dr sports, rawk, united forums, the overlap, talksport, that dublin wanker that does liverpool watchalongs to know that their is a tremendous amount of money to be made from being a useless but opinionated dickhead in the football sphere

It was Headline books in 1994 and my Mercer biography had come out and was doing well. I put a proposal together which was to document the story of City from after Mercer to the Lee takeover. Headline invited me down to London and I got on really well with the commissioning editor (a MUFC fan). He told me how much they loved my writing style and so on and I thought it was all going forward. Then he said ‘only trouble is it’s not going to attract non-City fans. It would be better if you could change the emphasis. Make it a comparison with United’s success. No matter how well City do they’re always in the shadow of big, successful United. Tell the reader how they’ve ruined your life.’

’But they haven’t!’

’Maybe include United in the title?’

’But it‘s a book about City.’

’Yes, but City won’t sell. You need to make it a book about how you’ve suffered and how whatever City do United are better’

’But they’re not... this is a story of how a major successful club experienced life in 70s to 94. The ups and downs and how fans kept fighting for change as time wore on. It’s not a book about United.’

After that I was told they really wanted me to write for them but the book needed to paint the picture they’ve suggested. I obviously turned them down and shortly afterwards I heard that ‘Man Utd Ruined My Life’ was to be written. Naturally, I was disappointed that I missed the opportunity to make a lot of money but I genuinely have never written a book because I expected to make money from it. I’ve only ever written books I’ve wanted to write.

Obviously, Headline and I have never worked together on anything. I always wanted to write for them but won’t betray my thoughts simply to get a book printed.

The mood is different on sky and they have ran out of things to pressure us with. So much waffling it’s almost funny.

All iv heard this morning on the radio and news channels is talk only of City’s injuries, bloke on the radio was even going on about Stones and Dias who didn’t play rather than the 3-0 over Burnley, the negativity is just relentless.
Stones and Dias given the night off, by arrogant City

You must do better, it’s Rags and Dippers, they refer to us as “oil cheats” so don’t give them respect they don’t deserve.

Here's another stat - Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, Rico Lewis & James Mcatee who all played took part in the game cost less in transfer fees than it costs to buy a halftime hotdog at Burnley. Don't remember seeing that one...........
That is why l binned sly am now £1000 a year better off financially and mentally

New season and Miguel has written his article again, while Harris has had another twitter meltdown about Citeh
Meanwhile they, Panja, Castles etc continue to ignore Chelsea’s industrial scale corruption
If you're a Guardian reader you wouldn't know Chelsea even had a problem with FFP. They've completely ignored it. Utterly shameless.

Lucky to win the Champions League? Fuck off, we beat Dortmund and Leipzig in the group and round of 16 stage then battered Bayern and Real in tbe quarters and semis before deservedly lifting the trophy in the final, where’s the luck you plastic Yorkshire Spuds ****?

Exactly. This is almost Delooney level dumbness about us being lucky to win the champs league. Remember after Liverpool went out, and then Bayern, Madrid and Inter really there was only one team left to win it.

Meh he should have carried on saying lucky to win the league and FA Cup as well, some of these ex players should engage their brains before spouting shite, having said that I’d not take anything the majority of them say seriously as they’ve for the most part have won absolutely fuck all..

I’m not letting go about Stone’s latest jaunt to promote United in the USA and them not reporting the City game v Yokohama.

Thank you for your response. My point was about the bias in your reporting between City and United games. Yes you put a report up three hours after the game had ended. For the United tour you sent your journalist to the USA, as you have now for many years to promote their friendly games and report live from the half full stadium whilst City played in front of three sold out stadia.

So I want to know do you receive payment from MUFC for the endless promotion of their friendly games on your website?

Or do we, the licence payers, fund the disparity in reports and the travel for Stone follow his team to friendly games?

Would I need to submit a FOI request for this information?

Also you did not address my final question relating to why I should continue to fund the BBC if I cannot find information about my team on your website and can only find promotional content on United.
Do you remember Maguire's very sympathetic BBC interview following the arrest in Mykonos?
As it really did have utd's grubby mits all over it and it was a piece of propaganda, under the freedom of information act I made two requests
See below their reply with the requests

Thank you for your request to the BBC of 28th August 2020 seeking the following information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (‘the Act’):

With regard to an interview with Harry Maguire, conducted by Dan Roan which was broadcast on the BBC One 10 o'clock news on Thursday 27th August 2020
I request two pieces of information
1/ In which country was the interview conducted?
2/ Who paid for Dan Roan's travel, accommodation and sustenance?
I look forward to you furnishing me with the information requested

The information you have requested is excluded from the Act because if held it would be held for the purposes of ‘journalism, art or literature.’ The BBC is therefore not obliged to provide this information to you and will not be doing so on this occasion. Part VI of Schedule 1 to FOIA provides that information held by the BBC and the other public service broadcasters is only covered by the Act if it is held for ‘purposes other than those of journalism, art or literature”. The BBC is not required to supply information held for the purposes of creating the BBC’s output or information that supports and is closely associated with these creative activities1
.

The limited application of the Act to public service broadcasters was to protect freedom of
expression and the rights of the media under Article 10 European Convention on Human Rights
(“ECHR”). The BBC, as a media organisation, is under a duty to impart information and ideas on
all matters of public interest and the importance of this function has been recognised by the
European Court of Human Rights. Maintaining our editorial independence is a crucial factor in
enabling the media to fulfil this function. However, the BBC makes a huge range of information
available about our programmes and content on bbc.co.uk.
