Probably the most boring City-related book I've ever had the misfortune to pick up (Manchester united Ruined my Life.) Garbage.
Worth reading for the way he captures how Munich affected the entire Manchester football community for those of us too young to know or remember, but aside from that pretty dull.

Maybe mate, but most of our parents or grandparents would have told us how Munich affected the whole community. As a teenager I trained at the Peter Street YMCA and there was a brass plaque to honour all the Busby Babes, who had been members, RIP.

Now Utd fans market the tragedy to such an extent that they even call their anti Glazer protest group The 58.

A man trying to make money and maintain relevancy in the present by consistently living in the past, unsuccessfully fighting the future.
Colin Shindler a bitter old fool, unable to move with the times, the type of fan who used to sit in the Main Stand at Maine Road constantly moaning and groaning, angry when the Kippax burst into song or god forbid when we scored.

A top hat of a man and an embarrassment to the club.

Wrexham 3 rags 1. Despite the rag keeper charging into Wrexham's striker Paul Mullin, puncturing his lung and putting him in hospital.

Overheard two Americans on the train this morning. 'Did you hear Wrexham beat Manchester United? THE Manchester United!' - 'Yea I did, but that's not that big club from Manchester though is it, is that not the other one?' Made me properly laugh out loud.

'Young' man utd side beaten by Wrexham report sky sports news . Young, just reserved for them obviously and they made sure they got it in as the first word, lol
The “old” team being beaten by Real Madrid isn’t getting huge coverage either, apart from Bellingham scoring to prove he’s already worth every penny. Real Madrid, of course, don’t buy trophies because they have ‘istry

At that time there weren't many football books written by fans. 'Fever Pitch' started it all and was a massive success leading to the film, so others were bound to jump on the bandwagon. Shindler was pretty much the next along, so it automatically did pretty well at the time due partly to the rarity value. I think he was hoping for a similar feel to Fever Pitch, but with an alternate ending where the team doesn't come good and doesn't end up on top.

Now obviously there are tons of fan written books and there are certainly lots of City ones I've read that are a better read.

I remember the upstairs running track and just loved those big baths……
