Yes it was before 1975…..I was at Stockport college hence easier to get a day off! Definitely was Coventry and I remember the bomb scare!I recall a match or two being played on a mid-week afternoon. This was due to a work-to-rule by the coal miners (or the electrical union?) and the Government were trying to cut electricity consumption.
I thought it was earlier than 1975 as I was at Manchester University from 1971-74 and wouldn’t have been able to get away to a football match on a midweek afternoon in 1975. It was certainly aimed a Conservative Government and they were defeated in February 1974.
I can’t remember who City played. I do recall a bomb scare during a match where everyone was asked to look under their seat for a bomb before play resumed!
