United at least where hated by most football fans during their glory years. Their players booed on England duty, stand up if you hate Man U sung at internationals at Wembley. Anti United chants at test matches at Leeds, Birmingham and even OT. Even at Lancy cricket they were abused not just by City but the likes of Burnley and Bolton. The difference was they had a slavish media onside to either deplore or ignore the abuse. I can't remember sustained abuse of Liverpool in there golden era. Outside of Manchester at all events. In European games the media would act like they were representing the whole of Britain, so different from our final in Istanbul. The media were OK with us in 2011 and 2012 regarding us no doubt as a flash in the pan like Blackburn and Leicester but since then we have been public enemy number one, f**k knows why. Anyway f**k em all better to be hated for being great than loved for being shit.
