Liam used the slur “ChingChong” on X, and as a Chinese fan who’s supported Manchester City for over ten years, I feel both disappointed and confused. I just can’t wrap my head around how the official club media stayed silent—and went on to show support for Liam and Oasis with a line from lyrics. Maybe local fans don’t care. After all, it’s just an undereducated rock star getting emotional after watching a match. But still, I can’t help but wonder… if City had lost to an African team, would anyone dare drop the N-word on X?

I know so many Chinese City fans are walking away from the club for this event. It’s genuinely upsetting. City has invested so much in China over the years, yet one bad apple...
I thought it was a reference to cocaine and weed tbh.
I mean if Chinese fans are walking away from supporting city because one fan said something derogatory maybe get thicker skin.

By your logic here, City are responsible for everything its fans do or say in life, which is completely ridiculous. I can guarantee you that every week plenty of people who would identify as City fans, get locked up for drunkenness, domestic abuse, drugs, and whatever else. Should the club be issuing a statement every time, of course not. You are confusing MCFC and a famous rock star who happens to support the club. If Liam has annoyed you fine, don’t buy his music or merchandise, there are plenty of City fans who don’t much like him or Oasis, but it has zero to do with the club.

I know it’s Summer and TV is generally shite but Shirley this can’t be right.
This Sunday at 2.50pm on ITV there is live coverage of the Preston v Liverpool friendly !!! Wtf
Hmmm that or the Men’s Wimbledon final or 3rd Test v India.
Didn’t realise Preston had so many fans up and down the country.
ITV Cynically cashing in on grief would be my best bet

Hi mate, as a person with half of his family as Chinese nationals spread between Manchester and Shanghai who are big supporters and matchgoing fans, I know exactly zero people who have walked away from City over this and probably only about 5% even care after seeing the actual context.

Indeed! I saw that earlier today when checking the schedules for the coming weekend! Unbelievable!

It'll be the Men's Final from Wimbledon at Evans Towers, as per instructions from 'She Who Must Be Obeyed'.. although BBC2's film double-header combo of 'Passport To Pimlico' followed by 'Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid' looks a tempting alternative..!

I would go for BBC2. A super film double

Like Liam did when he was cosplaying a hard man and lost his teeth in his first altercation.

Still the simps lap him up and are taken in by the fake persona.

Not sure about any of that because I don't deep dive the private life of another man like you seem to do mate.

I also don't use the term "simps" because I'm over 14 years of age.

No wonder there's loads of empty seats every week.
