I shouldn't really be surprised but the feature on TS with Jamie Jackson previewing Sundays game with Liverpool was so lacking in relevant analysis.

Still going on about the club world cup how City can be 'got at' how the results without Rodri are far worse etc.

Basically about 6 months out of date. A more interesting and relevant analysis could have covered the pace of OReilly and Nunes covering breaks, the emergence of Gonzales, the great link up play of Foden, Cherki, Erling, and dribbling of Doku but they managed to miss every last one of these points.

Don't mind giving credit where due but this
was like the remedial class analysis !
.

Tuchel gets it!

Thomas Tuchel on @PhilFoden: "Where he played [against] Dortmund was where I see him strongest; close to the opponent's box, a mix between No.9 and No.10. For me, Phil scores and assists more from the 18-yard box - where he scored against Dortmund - on the half-turn, in the pockets.

"I think the main thing with Phil is he gets a role central. I don't see him as a winger at the moment, maybe not any more. He should have a central role, I think that brings out his strengths most - we talked about this with him.

"So he will contribute as a No.9-and-a-half, No.10-and-a-half-ish position, very fluid, but in the middle of the pitch close to the box, be able to assist, and score like he did against Dortmund..."

You make very relevant points about City of last season, compared to the current change of personnel.
But, if it's Jamie Jackson, then he is always way behind what is happening.
Haven't a clue how the Guardian continues to employ him ?
I can imagine at the Guardian Christmas Party, that the pseudo-intellectual trio of Barney and the 2 Jonathan's, buy him a pack of crayons for "Secret Santa"...

SSN about to 'discuss' us - hosted by a scouser with Jay Bothroyd star of Muangting United, Jubilo Iwata and Hokkaido CS latter is currently spitting bits of kit-kat over the studio. Not too bad so far - reckons Pep is the greatest, better than baconface....Nobbins their tame City fan has just joined in - not happy Phil is back in the England fold for some strange reason.
