1000009834.jpgthis is absolute click bait and taken out of context

He's done an interview this morning with Gary Lineker and what he actually said was "my job at City is to score goals and the standard is so high here if I stop scoring I'm sure the club will look to replace me." He and Lineker started to laugh about what he said

I've submitted a formal complaint:

In the linked article on the forthcoming Manchester City v Exeter City FA Cup tie, there is a reference to Manchester City's ownership, namely "One is owned by an oil-rich state where money is no object...". This is false and misleading.

The publicly available facts on Manchester City's ownership is that they are 75%-owned by Newton Investments, a company that is100% owned by HH Sheikh Mansour as a private individual. The rest is owned by Silver Lake, a multi-billion dollar US investment company. There is nothing to support the oft-repeated assertion that Manchester City are "state owned".

In addition, regardless of the sovereign wealth of Abu Dhabi or its ruling family and other citizens, Manchester City has to abide by the same financial rules and constraints imposed by the Premier League and UEFA.

The BBC, above all other media channels, should stop using this false and lazy claim. I therefore ask that it's removed or corrected.
It has now been changed to:
“One is majority-owned and backed by the wealth of an oil-rich state, while the other was saved from bankruptcy by a few thousand fans from a town in Devon just over two decades ago.”

Not that they have informed me that they had made the change mind and obviously now that it is buried much further down on the site.

Must be a big game tonight. Jokers.

Interesting!

just heard some of haalaand interview lineker and shearer i think their gutted because he answered every question with thought and skill they were hoping for big headline none pep two years then what well managers move on i sopke to his bosses and their plans no 115 shite no point
Called me paranoid but they were subtly trying to coax a snippet about 115 and Peps contract situation in my opinion. To be fair though Gary Linekar has been fair with City in the most part. I get the feeling Shearer hates us, probably though jealousy. He always seems to pander to United though .

Waterford Bohemians are a junior club. (There is a senior club in Waterford called, apprpriately enough, Waterford and also a senior club in Dublin, called Bohemians).
That said, there are games where United claim one Wayne Rooney as their Academy representatove.
To he fair to the media, he's an obscure reference that the media may not know too much about but, if one digs deep enough, it turns out that he had played for the Everton first team (Everton in Liverpool, not the Cork junior team of the same name) and get this, may even have been capped for England and been named in the BBC's Team of the European Championships... all before United discovered him as a plucky 17 year old, selling dummies in a ginnel, and gave him one half of football in their Academy before launvhing his admittedly unheralded career.

Is this true? I’m aware of them including John O’Shea as an academy player and I’ve seen the caveat of ‘played for the academy/youth team’ which O’Shea did.

However, a game where Rooney was classed as their only academy player would be kryptonite!

Just a thought - it’s usually referred to as an ‘Academy player’ without referring to it being the scum academy.

I am getting fed up with Shamoon Hafez's writing on Manchester for BBC Football.

Just cover City professionally without an agenda. The latest article focused on Real Madrid and Alonso, and not City.
He's a self-proclaimed Rag.

Pretty sure the BBC have given him the gig to cover our games purely as a wind up.

I’ve followed up my complaint of yesterday to point out to them that the edit is still inaccurate and City are not backed by the wealth of an oil rich state as it’s a private investment by Sheikh Mansour

Just been reading a few posts on here this evening before the biggest game in Europe this season. I will be watching the game in my cassa because the Madrid fans in my local are like the rags. But anyway what I want to really say because it’s the media thread is I’m appalled at the lack of credit we don’t get in the media so much so it’s getting harder to justifying have the bbc, daily fail, mirror or MUEN on my tablet anymore for insightful news on gods own club.

"Hidden" away in the bbc article on the Exeter draw:
"One is majority-owned and backed by the wealth of an oil-rich state, while the other was saved from bankruptcy by a few thousand fans from a town in Devon just over two decades ago."
I mean just feck off will yah
Cunts never fucking stop. What does the wealth of our owners have to do with anything, their favoured clubs have bent the rules to make that irrelevant (unless you’re USA owned and sell hotels to yourself, or take interest free shareholder loans etc)

The wealth of our owners means nothing - since we're self sufficient these days - but WE all know that.
Lazy journalist at the bbc must have "forgotten", or maybe just maybe didn't bother to "fact check" ;)

It didn’t take long did it.

One win over Wolves who are nailed on relegation canon folder, and Sly Stone is knocking one off again.

United aren’t turning the corner anymore, they are turning the tide.

Sly then comes out with another gem.

Mason Mount, ‘the England star’.

Over to the Daily United.

Back to BBC United at Mediacity - Salford.

And the Wolves V United topic everyone is talking about today.

RDAHMEedya twisting the story shocker!

I thought it was because there had been so many complaints about Simple Simon covering our games. One Rag for another. It's the way the BBC rock 'n roll!
