Media discussion - 2025/26

All this bxllshit in the press starting with Slot bringing up a game against Wolves from last season where the only comparisons were, it was a corner in the oppositions penalty area, it is just noise by livarpool and their shrills to put pressure on refs not to use the laws of the game against them. If you feel sorry for anyone and I certainly don't feel sorry for the scousers, then have pity on,
Forest
West Ham
Sunderland
Leeds, only slightly;-)
Brighton
Tottenham
Wolves
because they are their opponents up till Christmas.
Van dyke onfield and the media off it will be putting pressure on refs to give livarpool everything they demand.

I've listed some off the top of my head and suggested by other posters:
  • Alf Grey disallowing Kevin Reeves' goal for no discernible reason.

  • The mysterious malfunction of VAR when Salah scored and was seemingly offside.
  • The Trent handball not given.
  • The disallowed goal for the slightest touch on Alisson.
  • The Foden goal disallowed for a foul by Haaland a couple of phases earlier.
What else have I missed?

The Champions League game was two offside decisions, Salah for their goal and Jesus wrongly given offside for our goal. The third outrage iirc was a blatant stonewall foul in the area on Sterling. Unbelievable decision
Then Sane given offside in the return when Milner had headed it back
Luhoz at his bent worst. Pep even got a ban for it
A four goal swing in their favour over two legs. Scandalous refereeing
One that sticks in the craw is Adam knee high on Barry in the box in that league cup semi final years ago
They subbed him shortly after as he was already on a card, they knew it was a penalty

The multiple cards that milner got away with. Trip on Foden when last man and tripping Bernardo when on a yellow.

The dive by Jaws when, again on a yellow, at a time when the referees were instructed to book for blatant dives

Bernado's last year was completely different, on-field it was given as a goal, he wasn't in the GKs eyeline and he couldn't affect the ball and impact the GK decision making. Again not a clear and obvious error

But the MSM are just following and reacting to the noise across Social media

As soon as Robertson ducked he was active. If he had not ducked the ball would not have entered the net. It was a clear offside and would have been given every time. He interfered with play.

Notwithstanding the footage not shown by MOTD etc which revealed he was clearly grabbing and shoving Donnarumma as the ball was played
But that doesn’t fit the narrative

It’s not even a close decision. The one at Wolves is totally different. Stones headed into the roof of the net. Bernardo was nowhere near it and moving away from the keeper. That’s what Robertson should have done. Slott has made a fool of himself.

Oh no, covers ears, I had blotted that pain from my memory ( like having bad toothache). They went on to win the league Cup for this means 4 consecutive years. The bast%rds are on 10 wins now, we were equal on 8 until we started being shite in the league Cup in 2022.

At least they won't win it this season!

Question is why would you put a small player there? Is he expected to win a near post header or out jump the keeper for the cross? Or is he there to try and put the keeper off? If the latter, how is that not an 'obvious action'.

But feck em, I think the goal should have stood and they were cheated out of it. Light me a candle, I'm enjoying the hate.

At Anfield they flagged Sane repeatedly for offside wrongly every time we attacked. These were the days before advantage was given to to see if the decision was correct.
 
It's Tuesday, I have just turned on Sky Sports and Michael Owen is pontificating about the dreadful decision,

Notwithstanding his status as the dreariest, most vacuous pundit on TV, is there no end to the wretched band of partisan heads on sticks to be wheeled out?

That’s what Howard Webb said. Robertson facilitated the goal by ducking. It’s nothing to do with VAR it would have been offside in any era of football. The media narrative is PR-driven to take the heat off Slott. A totally manufactured stunt. So many fans are ignorant about how this sort of thing happens. Why did Slott reference Bernardo at Wolves? He was fed that line.
