Media discussion - 2025/26

I've checked two media sources this morning: Auntie and the Sunday Torygraph. Auntie's description of Gabriel's woe managed to crowbar in a mention of ManshYoonited, and the ST rated PSG's players in total as 71, whilst the Arse garnered 73!

Both propaganda outlets made out that the wild west pen taker (has the ball landed yet?) was, in CB pecking order, way beyond Santamaria, John Charles, Nesta, Cannavaro, and even Tony Adams. But it begs the question: if he's that good, how the fuck did he miss the pen?

As all the stats show it was a one sided game

The penalty was diabolical. He did not even look at the ball. His run up was like a toddler and he slashed wildly at the ball. He really is a donkey who is great at set pieces. No wonder Arsenal hoof the ball long most of the time.

Totally agree, the way the Tarquins played was the mentality of a league 1 team against a decent premier league club in a domestic cup. They got lucky with the goal and then tried to hang on. PSG were pretty much there for the taking yesterday with all their big players misfiring. The media coverage lovingly portrayed them as a plucky under dog fighting a footballing giant rather than a billion dollar club stifling the life out of the beautiful game with their low block and rigid defending.

The media should be all over their failings because to be fair, Arsenal missed a huge opportunity without really having a real go at it.
The amount of cringing praise they got from the commentators was sickly.
When we drew 1 1 at arsenal this season, we got slagged off everyone for being defensive. When Arsenal do it, it's a brilliant organisation.

Hopefully already been mentioned, but if you want an unbiased (scathing) account of Arsenal’s performance yesterday, have a listen to Craig Burley et Al on ESPNFC!

Craig Burley will never get a job over here as he's far too honest.
