Media Neglecting Us?

Anti-Semitism is treated more seriously than other forms of racism in a lot of places (at least with regards to English speaking countries), it's not that shocking. Wrong, but not in the least surprising.

I was more lamenting the fact that it's another "automatic punishment" thing which I dislike and vehemently disagree with. I don't think anything at all, from death threats to Munich insults, should be an auto-ban and think everything should be judged within its own context. Otherwise we may as well sack all the mods and replace them with a bot that can do that job

we could be the least written about double trophy winners ever , whilst the martyrs will have a centre page pull out special on young english players playing for free , playing the right way , player and manager of the year , the best crowd atmosphere , the 96 in the sky , and a special offer of free P&P if you buy candles by the dozen.

Not on here it isn't.

I actually welcome the chance to comment outside the Mod Forum as it gives me a chance to make something clear once and for all. Use the words "paki' or '******' in the wrong context and you'd rightly be off here like a shot. It's hard to hide blatant racism over the colour of someone's skin but easy to hide behind certain words or phrases and be anti-semitic, while claiming you aren't.

The phrase "Jewish owned media" or an equivalent is an inherently anti-semitic comment (although I accept it may be unconsciously used in some cases) because (a) it's simply not true and (b) implies that any Jew hates any Arab/Muslim, which is not the case. The people who use it never justify it with facts.

For the record, the only national newspapers in the UK owned by someone who was born into a Jewish family are The Star and the Express, owned by Richard Desmond.

The Times & The Sun, The Telegraph, The Independent, The Mail, The Express and The Mirror are all owned by public companies or non-Jewish individuals. ITV, Sky & the BBC are also in this category.

It is a common claim on blatantly anti-semitic websites that Murdoch is Jewish through his maternal line but it's been conclusively proven that the great-great-grandmother in question was baptised as a baby.

Interview with Nasri being shown now on Soccer Saturday.

And this is where we're in large disagreement. The phrase "Jewish owned media" is NOT inherently anti-Semitic no more than the phrase the "Black owned media" is inherently racist.

The phrase is untrue and hints towards that there is a bias between Jews and Arabs rather than a hatred. Saying it implies a hatred is too strong of a conviction.

The problem with your and Ducado's opinion here is that you are presuming everybody uses the words in some nefarious connotation and is as well read on the history of anti-Semitism as you are, where most of it is just ignorance said by somebody who thought something like:

"Media is Jewish owned."
"Jews and Arabs don't like each other"
"We have Arab owners"
"Therefore media hate City"

None of that is anti-Semitic. It is wrong and silly, but it isn't anti-Semitic. I've said in the past that I feel that that is an accusation made far too liberally and that you're confusing ignorance for hatred.

You are labelling people equivalent of racists for being wrong and this is not at all a fair situation. My burden of racist offensiveness is to substitute like for like terms and see if it is still offensive. Jewish is a descriptive word and not offensive. A like for like term is Black and not ******. Saying "the Black owned media" is not offensive, it's just wrong.

We constantly get accusation of bias and collusion from "the English media" concerning English players so it isn't the idea of an ethnicity colluding that is a problem rather that "the Jewish owned media/the Jewish controlled media" is a stick which the anti-Semites use to beat the Jews with

The best way I can describe my point is that you're looking at it as a catchphrase rather than an ignorant collection of words and we have no evidence to support that. As you know, I was the person who originally warned the person who used it in an anti-Semitic way and feel that there are elements on this forum who do take any opportunity to talk about Jewish conspiracies and the Protocols of Zion and such nonsense. I just think that this is throwing the baby out with the bathwater somewhat

I love us getting blanked by the press, we can stay under the radar for ever as far as I'm concerned, we'll just get on with the job in a quiet and efficient manner and if/when we win something these jealous twats in the press will be sobbing away and foaming at the mouth as they write their next success story about us.
Fuck em.

Well said mate.

I'd always rather have that. I never want it to change, not ever!
