"Pere Guardiola was free to buy his 44.3% share of the Catalan club, with The City Football Group – the overarching global corporation owned by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al-Nayan – buying an equal 44.3% stake."

Fine. I'm sure it is all above board and the fact that it's Pep's brother is just one of those coincidences that happens from time to time.
Read my first sentence again.

I did. It's beautifully constructed.

Well done.
Thanks for the patronizing tone. Maybe I started it so ok.

What I meant that you're pointing out it's weird in a suspicious way, and it's an agreeable fact. But my point was that this is an author who is known to dislike City, to the point where he's making mountains out of molehills. Such as City working with Girona. The reason it seems odd is because he's written the article in a way for the whole thing to seem odd. It's a narrative. That you it seems like many other people (particularly non-City fans) have bought into. It's his agenda.

Can't wait for the press to get hold of the news and break it to the world in their beautifully put positive way .

He is pointing out that this deal is allowed because there is a loophole in the rules, which there apparently is

Christ. The comments are definitely not pro-City but the Guardian has always been absolutely full of armchair rag and Scouser commentors giving each other recommends so it's no surprise.

A classic Paul Wilson article though. The miserable old toad.

Just the usual propaganda from Paul Wilson. It's worth pointing out that City have repeatedly made it clear that Sterling is not part of any deal. It's Arsenal who have briefed that they want Sterling. Interesting how Sterling has now changed from a media hate figure to someone who needs nurturing. More shoddy journalism from a reporter who is behind the pace.

Don't usually get heated about all this but from a supposedly reputable newspaper this is out of line. Sent this, more as therapy as anything else and not expecting any good out of it but still

"it is articles such as this that sadden me as a lifelong guardian reader. I am 39, and as a child remember the Guardian being delivered to my family home every day, with the Observer being collected every Sunday. As a proud Mancunian, the Guardian's close links to the city historically also adds I am sure the affiliation to your paper. Granted, I feel the same if not stronger tie to Manchester City, but believe I am objective - unlike this article. Elements of your football reporting seems intent on competing with journalism I would not expect from such a historically fine newspaper. Other examples of this poor journalism are displayed especially by your resident Manchester football reporter."

Unfortunately they are all needing to get their subs one way or another so anything goes in this digital age.
Even the FT had to sell out to Nikae despite being 75% digital because their Jap buyer had more digital expertise.

All standards go out the window when money talks.

I have now read this Guardian article three times and cannot see the problem. He does not say that City are trying to move Sterling on. He says that "one imagines City will get their man, with or without Raheem Sterling moving in the opposite direction" and then goes on to say that Aguero or Sterling could be collateral damage in that they may not get the games they want. I agree and I think the collateral damage will be to Aguero bearing in mind that he is already not guaranteed a start with Jesus here. I don't need to read a newspaper to believe that Aguero would not be likely to want to put up with that situation for long which would be sad.

The article does that, it says that City contend that they did not them who raised Sterling as part of a deal. That isnt shoddy journalism, it is more shoddy reading of it - no offence

See the Manchester "United" Evening News are making up stories again. No quotes, just a rags fiction:
"Sergio Aguero could seek January move after Alexis Sanchez arrival"

Well, again...not to sound like thunder**** in this thread like....but what is actually lies about that? He 'could' seek a move in January, couldnt he? Its a shite story yes, as you say no facts or anything. But is it incorrect?
Shit quality yes, wrong no.

You'd think with how much click-baiting they do that they'd have a website that wasn't total and utter shit.

Well Stuart Brennan should write one saying Rashford could seek a move in January with big Conk resigning! Guess what if he did the rag scum would have it pulled in 5 mins.

Jim White all gob yesterday about Sterling swap, who would have the better deal and all that. Today he reported that City say Sterling was going nowhere, but then asked how that would affect him knowing that City thought of selling him. City fans must have had a go at him, so he went on the attack about how badly pep treats players and he will not win the premier league. Thankfully, Cascarino was there to talk some sense.
