Media Thread 2017/18

Jesus christ do people see an agenda in everything?

Schemers is a well known football phrase used in england term to describe an inside forward or more loosely a playmaker which are exactly what Silva and KDB are for us.

It lurks in everything! 'Tis only the current brilliance of the football that has got the protagonists to crawl back under their stones. Just wait for the first reverse and they creep out, mud-covered, telling us what they had scripted last August! And woe betide an empty seat in our end at the derby!

Certainly this thread gives direct links but that is its subject heading. My post was to perhaps understand why journos do it not to agree with it.
Perhaps some journos are big enough in their own right to make a balanced article but circulation pays the wages, even a fair minded editor will not risk falling sales to print the truth so employ presenters or journos who match your circulation research ie are biased.

The heading is media thread but the majority of the links seem to be negative.

I do not think people, or the vast majority, are interested in balanced articles and so we get a media which produces cobtent based on this demographic,

Its all opinion based with an element of controversy to get a reponse and stimulate debate rather than well structured analysis of football in any way.

An *exclusive* hatchet job by *Richard Wheatstone of the Sun*.

Not just a small article, but a full and in-depth report on City's attendance figures.

The only other club that get's a slight mention in the article is Southampton.

No mention of United, Arsenal(how many empty seats at Arsenal Yesterday and throughout the season), Spurs, WestbHam, etc.

It's obvious this f***er has been given the go ahead by his Editor in Chief to have at City and our support.

Perhaps Richard could explain this. According to him via the Police, the crowd against Stoke was *28,405*. That's roughly 26,000 down on the Etihad capacity of 54,000+. Almost half. So that would mean 2 stands would have been empty.

Question. When did any of you ever see 2 stands empty at the Etihad for a PL match? Exactly!

More bullshit from the PL cartel loving Sun/Media, as City close in on another PL title.

*Last season, the Blues' 0-0 draw at home to Stoke drew a crowd of just 28,405 - just over half of the official crowds of 52,625*.

No link as per.

unless my eyes are really going, from my seat , yeah there is the family stand no shows(hundreds at most), but in general the other 3 stands are pretty much full,

really intrigued if these police figures are remotely genuine, forget the the sun that's exaggerating to the extreme for clicks

why is that particular article centred around us?

I agree, certainly even years ago it was the proud boast of those within that industry that you should never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
Editors still decide what will sell via expensive research so they publish or present accordingly. Sensible really from a financial point of view.

Genuinely curious mate, why does it bother you so much? I happen to agree on this occasion but it strikes me that you're like a watchdog on this thread just waiting for someone to show the slightest hint of paranoia.
He`s no different than those "watchdogs" who trawl through every bit of journalism written about us,just to "find" negative stories which don`t really exist.

It is a fair question mate. I do come on this thread a lot less than I use too and there are posts literally every day.

Sadly it is also one of the most popular threads and it just seems strange to me that with all the plaudits and conparisons with our side being discussed as the best sides of all time people are still moaning about the likes of the Sun/Talksport content as if it is even unique or specific to City.

I had hoped this season it would be different. Last year people use to tell me on this thread the press will not criticise United or their manager and City will never get the credit they deserve. This year we regular get compared or lauded as the best side ever to grace the Premiership and United have been slated for their football and the negativity of their manager. But still it continues.

Cheers for the reply mate, I think it will always be thus, people tend to use forums to vent and since there's not much justifiable venting in regards the playing side of things at the minute this is their best opportunity.

The police figures are just estimates based on guesswork as opposed to tickets sold. The figures are obviously wrong because anyone who attends matches knows that at most there have been a few thousand no shows. The Sun claims we had less than 30,000 for Stoke last season which means there were apparently two empty stands of "no-shows". Anyone at the match, including myself, can see that is absurd.
All clubs have no shows. At this year's Derby match at the swamp there were a few empty rows in the top tiers opposite us clearly visible from the City section. This is probably a block of corporates or perhaps a travel agency which has not sold all its packages to overseas Rags. There is no such thing as a totally full-house anywhere in the world. What I find annoying is that we should be singled out for this. A lot of the idiots who work for the Sun website are not qualified journnalists. It is essentially fake news.

Why do you find it strange? I thought you would be familiar with the way some people’s minds are wired by now. You’ve had enough exposure!
