I'm not sure that's actually correct. These are the golden years for the Premier League and that has conflated with a period of absolute and relative decline for united. The competitiveness of the Premier League is its best selling point. Media outlets have a vested interest in promoting united, but from a Premier League brand point of view, a return to a united hegemony, would be bad for business imo.
