So do you genuinely think United, Mourinho and his ‘parking the bus’ football has received more praise than Peps City this year?

Beyond belief some of the stuff written on this subject. Some fans are desperate to cling on to ‘lickle city’ and desperate to have something to moan about and play the victim.

Of course not. Murdoch and the other billionaires that own the media are desperate to give UAE owned clubs a fair shout . Same as RT show a nice balanced news. The World is democratically fair and honest.

Got lost i'm not clinging onto anything, you live on here as is your right i suppose but if you lifted your head you might just learn something

You have over 66k posts which is also your right but seems strange to accuse someone else of living on here.

You made a point clubs who park the bus get more praise than Pep. You also infer United get favorable media.

So hand on heart, having made both statements, do you think United and their style of football has got more praise this year than Peps city? I think deep down you know that is not true.

So same question without the deflection of humour.

Have united and their style of football got more praise than City and Peps this year?

I think united do get favourable media. It seems like anything rag positive makes the headlines. An example being their ladies team
Where as our fabulous season is being played down as much as possible. Yes we are receiving plaudits but they always come with a caveat

No of course they have not got more praise. City have got more praise.

Now I have answered that. Is the media inherently biased, especially when UAE interests are involved ?

I have not noticed it personally. There is negative coverage about the human rights aspect, but if what is written is true I would expect the media to report it rather than protect the sensibilities of football fans.

One thing I have learned about football is to detach the actual game from the wider issues surrounding it or otherwise you can end up losing the love for the game. That includes player wages, ownership etc.

That is something we can agree on,if you worry about wages etc you wouldn't love the game so much, best to keep that stuff where it belongs and just enjoy what happens on the pitch

Our "style" has definitely earned more plaudits , but the Rags have also had plenty of praise for grinding out results and finding a way to win trophies , if a football club has spent £600m on players in 3 seasons how is grinding out results praiseworthy ? It is the disparity of the praise that proves the media are just pandering to their paying customers i.e.Rags and Dippers , it will never change , as far as the media goes "its not personal , its business" and the sooner our supporters accept this the better .It really isnt worth getting wound up about , because WE are the CHAMPIONS :)

Whilst there is truth in that Frank, your willingness to ignore the very essence of clickbait is just as mystifying in its own right. We’ve had great praise for the way we play this season (positively Damascean at times), but to cater to the army of global rags and dippers there has also been plenty of the usual nonsense - Sterling getting his fizzog attached to a story about dipper academy graduates sexually harassing staff at Rainhill College, Breakfastgate, the Sun’s Emptihad scoop, the poison that spewed forth from the likes of Neil Ashton when we lost to Wigan, the sudden interest in human rights in the UAE, the concerted efforts of the media to plug Salah and (preposterously) Dyche for player and manager of the season awards, etc etc. I do think there’s been a growing disparity between television broadcasters and newspapers this season. The regular MotD and Sky Sports matchday pundits have been absolutely gushing, and even erstwhile critics like Craig Burley have seen the light. The print press has been far less willing IMO

It is a pretty accurate summation but I also think United due to their extent of coverage get more criticism also, particularly their managers like Moyes, LVG and Mourinho especially when things go wrong.

The media at the end of the day is a business and we have no more right to expect parity with United for coverage than Burnley have a right to demand parity with ourselves. As businesses, business decisions will dictate the extent of the coverage. It will only change as our popularity grows.

The wankathon that accompanied Moyes appointment was possibly the most nauseating I’ve ever encountered, and I would maintain that the boot only truly went in with United’s tacit endorsement

We had this discussion last year and I distinctly remember you saying that the only reason LVG and Moyes got criticised was because of Uniteds endorsement and they would not have been criticised otherwise.

So what do you make of the criticism of Mourinho this year? Is that with their endorsement because I have never seen a city manager get such a rough ride.

Maureen has made a lot of enemies in the press and they are ever ready to stick the boot in now, there is little United can do to stop them attacking him. It's not the local reporters though, who United can control, they are generally still trying their best to polish the turd. No way is this the roughest ride a manager has got though, they were way more aggressive and bordering on gleeful attacking Pep last year. (but I think that had far more to do with little Englander syndrome than anti-City, they were desperate for England to be so special that he couldn't succeed here)

You were obviously on vacation during the great Fraudiola campaign of Nov/Dec 2016. As for Maureen you’ve also forgotten the rewriting of history this season to the effect that Pep inherited a team full of stars, but Jose inherited a squad in transition.....?

But that is three managers now given a tough time. What happened to this united media bias I keep reading about on this forum?

Take away our view on Mourinho and the football and put yourself as a united fan for one minute (ok make it a second) and you might be wondering why your manager is getting so much abuse when he took a team unable to qualify for champs lge football, won two trophies in his first year, 2nd following season and in the Fa cup final. Bias can be seen in so many ways dependent upon the prism you look through.

Incidentally agree with you about the little englander thing. Its all part of the narrative of the Premiership being the ‘toughest’ league and I think prople did not want Pep to smash it. Fortunately for us he has.

How the fuck he's getting off so lightly would be my question.
