Read this and enjoyed it. I think on balance though the issue is less one of bias and one more of narrative. We skrike about bias but journos don't accept that bias is in play so you can't challenge that without being immediately dismissed. What needs to be challenged is narrative and the lazy stories that are told.
Liverpool are the kop end sucking in the ball, ynwa, Istanbul, bobby, hendo, mo and trent. Hard british graft allied with foreign flair that cost less than the Coutinho money due to excellent scouting. Van Dijk being plucked from obscurity from Southampton ans Klopp somehow seeing someone no one else could in Mane and Chelsea reject Salah. The true kings of England, and therefore the world. But a king who is your mate. A kind, gracious ruler who likes a laugh in a throw a brick in it, push it in a fountain way. So genuflect and flatter your way into the kings court, laugh along to make sure its not you waking up employed next time.
United are the young upstarts from the theatre of dreams. Pay your dues and the stars may align. Young talent from the streets of manchester mixed with premium young talent who come with their united pyjamas steeped in the folklore of the classic unitied trio of beckham, ronaldo and rooney. The prince who usurped the king using the power of dreams and iron will of Sir Alex tooking a rag bag of manc talent ie Eric, David, Wayne, Rio, Christiano. DNA, magical knights, working class dockyard heroes to a man. Rocky Bilbao, Inter Your Mam, drink yourself to death working class ken loach beat your wife coronation street balls. Packaged safely so middle class junkies can feel naughty cos they heard about a guy who stabbed another guy for spilling his pint.
Then every story needs a villain. Faceless corporate monolith. Taking apart the game and recreating with all the joy sucked out in ruthless, uncaring efficiency. Amazon without the cuddly exterior. Rats raping the world, sick kid using, manipulative, moustache twirling megolomaniac, sports washing, "modern", soul less, worth less, means less.
It isn't bias. It is melodrama writ large by people channeling Shakespeare and smashing keyboards in the hope that 10,000 Keowns will somehow magic King Lear. But they're not employed to create magic more to appease the masses, clickbait and masturbate. Interchangable "opinions" from interchangable faces. It is live but not alive. Stale, meaningless, repititive. Taking real actual magic - the stuff of creation and writing as if Peps just pulled a coin from behind Zinchenko's ear.
