It's a double edged sword though for the clickbait clubs. Failure to win things brings massive ridicule from the media. To the point where the owners are forced into things like signing Sanchez or getting rid of Lingard.
United are under so much media pressure and spotlight that the players can't perform for that club... Di Maria, Lukaku, lingard etc all shit according to the clickbait media, the fans demand action (based on what the media say), the board have to keep the fans happy.
Meanwhile those players actually turned out to be quite good when they moved to another club. (imagine lingard doing for United what he's doing at West ham)
Instead utd keep players like rashford (lazy), mctominay (not enough talent but reminds utd fans of the SAF era), Martial (lazy and cba), Phil Jones (shit)
That's my current theory! I might be wrong but long may it continue, like it did for lfc over the last 30 years.
