The comparison to Ferguson is utterly ridiculous. Ferguson stayed at a very rich club for a very long time, a club much richer than its rivals, he won a lot of trophies.
But no one talks about his mode of football today, no one tries to emulate the style of 1999 and not just because football has moved on.
He was not an innovator he was a mechanic, constructing a well oiled machine over many years, he won a lot of stuff, then he fucked off and left little behind, beyond screwing the club he purportedly loved. No one studies his tactics today, he brought nothing new to the game and he left nothing behind.
With the exception of a few sycophants in the media he's been mostly forgotten.
I was also just having a quick look at Peps record. After this season he will have managed for 12 seasons. 8 League wins (hopefully 9 soon), 9 cups, plus 2 CL. So 19 major honours plus 2 still to play for this season. At Utd Fergie won 25 in 26 years.
You could also take away Bayern trophies which is a one team league and he still has 14 major trophies in 9 seasons plus 2 to play for this season.
The financial advantage we have at the moment is somewhat comparable to Utd during Fergies reign. Although I would argue Pep and City face more competition in the PL atm. I think a fair comparison of Fergies time at Utd and the level of competition is Spain over the last 10 years with 2 teams fighting for the title and occasionally another team challenging.
My point is if Pep manager as long as Ferguson he will win more trophies. That's before you even consider his style of play and tactical legacy.
