No they got the answer machineMerseyside's finest did try to track him by phoning his contact number but he didn't answer.
and left a message 'Dis is de police at Tuebrook nick. Please leave a message'.
So the officer checked the messages but it was engaged and he got through it was the Station answer machine asking him to leave a message. Which he did and its been going backwards and forwards ever since which is one of the reasons they never have the resources to catch bus wreckers.
It only stopped when a new officer started at the nick and he listened to the messages. He asked the sergeant if it was an offence to impersonate a police officer. 'Dere's a message.on here from some bloke whose trying to sound like that bloke who has just retired'.
