I was in an almost emptyish pub when City played Saturday midday against QPR. A lad on his own booed Raheem every time he touched the ball and cheered when Austin scored. I asked him if he was a QPR fan and he replied he was a Crewe fan so l asked why he booed. With an earnest look oh his face he said 'lts Raheem Sterling innit?' as if it was the done thing to boo. One word just four letters but a lot of scorn and he never said another thing for the rest of the match.
City drew ith a late equaliser but this dickheads response narks me to this day.
I hate to type the next sentence but.....
When Beckham got sent off for flicking his leg out in some world Cup or other, the media turned on him, the next season 'everyone' hurled abuse at him, 'Die Beckham fucking die' Now the lad is/was a show pony but the media dictated and the sheep followed.
IF Sterling does leave and go to Barca/Madrid/Scunthorpe you watch the media change. It is a totally dishonest profession

One of the reasons I don't like watching in pubs anymore. Too many plastic tossers who actually think they're at the game. I blame it on 3D telly!

I remember reading of some of the stick he and his missus were getting but did not see much. Were we in a different division or was l just not bothered l wonder. I think Sky had fewer matches then, not that l had Sky. But l know what you mean - see it every day in the way the media forms opinions against us.

I got blamed for 'bullying' a rag after a Derby because l was mocking him too much. Easy meat who came out with stupid remarks such as 'all City fans come from Stockport whilst he came from Crewe and had never been anywhere near the Swamp.
Not been in since. Bad beer with rags 'n' dippers isn't for me.

Similar thing happened to me during the last World Cup. Me and a few mates were watching an England game and one of the lads (he's not really interested in football) said ''Argh, I hate Sterling'' I asked him why and he couldn't explain it, so I called him out on it, asked him to justify it and he couldn't. Completely brainwashed by the papers that he reads. We all know the ones.

The power of the presss.....

Chatting about football to a sweaty sock on a beach in Thailand a while back and lo and behold...."a great team City are but I can't stand Sterling".

I think it also works it's way into the minds of the players. In 2016, Raz got it before, during and after the tournament for tattoos and going to see his mum as soon as he got home.
The players didn't declare their support for him and there were many times he got into great positions and his team mates didn't pass to him as if they didn't trust him Kane in particular. They were quite happy for the blame for poor results to fall onto him.
Close your eyes and listen to Kane and others and the automatic reaction is 'thick tabloid readers' and l am sure they are.
