Shot through with red shirt toadyism, cognitive dissonance and the usual dog whistle racism that characterised much of what was written back then. Laughable pearl clutching at the very thought that a talented and ambitious young black man became uppity, failed to know his place and refused to doff his cap to an establishment institution but instead wanted to better himself.Who else remembers Ian Darke's article about Sterling leaving the "footballing citadel" that is Liverpool for a place on our bench?
Fair and impartial my arse.
