The nearest I can think of is when I did The Sport Social podcast a few years ago and was asked why I thought no City player was nominated for Player of the Season. I offered the possibility that City didn’t have one outstanding player week after week, but rather a team that allowed different players to shine at different times - and that meant that individual brilliance slipped under the radar. Someone who heard it took issue with me saying City weren’t a one-man team, but I don’t remember who and I don’t even remember if I responded at the time.

On that Sport Social show, though, I said nothing about City fans and if there’s a Premier League podcast I’ve certainly never been invited on it.
