Media Thread 2020/21

Pep doing a tactical masterclass but all of the journalists are either too thick to be able to analyse it or too bitter to bring themselves to praise us. You've got to love how much this season is pissing them all off!

Surely a human rights article must be imminent? Then carragher and neville spending half of Monday night footballer focusing solely on how to try and stop us to get the word out to everyone else in the league. Won't be enough

Up the blues
There's been a lot of good analysis of Pep's tactics online, especially from foreign journalists and data experts, but the UK media has mostly been pathetic. SKY and BT constantly get our formations wrong on their graphics for example. The print media is just too moronic for words. It's easy to see why English football at international level has been a laughing stock for decades.

It nice to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt the only reason we get shit on in the media is we don’t get clicks on a positive story for us so it has to be a paid premium because it’s the only way it’ll make them money.

Nice to be proven right but I shan’t be paying for it. I hope whoever it was reads this; fuck off and get a real job
I think the Mail is by far the worst click chaser and that they import lots of articles from elsewhere, especially if they will appeal to lowest common denominator readers. Even the former broadsheets do it especially online.
It is sad that that they no longer report on the best quality in sport and being absolutely factually correct. They have sold their soul for clickbait.

I thought I'd turn on sky's football show. That bloody irritating rag female footballer is on, utterly unwatchable. Whoever thought she makes for good viewing should be shot.

Tbf, they only have to look at the match and post match threads on BM after the Leicester, Spuds and WBA games to find plenty in agreement. I would add, this doesn't include "normal" BM's, just some of the weirdo's that limit their posts to match day.
It's only a very small minority on this forum who criticised Pep. The broad general theme has been Pep needs time to sort out the defence. My view has been consistent. I think we have played brilliant football in most matches ( except perhaps Leicester and West Brom home) but for the first few months we were missing lots of chances. The Wolves and Leeds away games were excellent.
I don't accept we were poor in the first half of the season. It was obvious that once we clicked we would kick on. I rarely go on the matchday game thread because I would rather focus on the game itself. Personally I think Pep is building his greatest ever team at present. We may not get 100 points but we will win more European trophies. I would not swap our current back four for any in the world.

The City hating Express Rag.

Lionel Messi will 'set himself a challenge' and join PSG in Man City snub

This is an appalling generalisation and a gross misrepresentation of those who have , over many years, brought a great deal of joy and happiness to many football fans and many other sections of society.
I find your comparison of these great and good characters to the likes of Michael Owen and danny Murphy totally abhorrent!
If we played a Mongolian team in a world club final they would have Genghis Khan and his brother Ogedei as impartial analysts in the studio for the game.

I didn't think we were poor, Pep said we would benefit from the cautious approach of early season as players were brought back too soon. His rotation and management of the squad is outstanding, we are now seeing how visionary Pep is. I wrote a post saying people should get off his back and realise that not only do we have a great Manager we also have someone who is a wonderful human being. I stand by my previous posts though, there's enough on the match day forums that would have liked to have seen him sacked :-).

Even at the time that article seemed utterly absurd, and it has aged even worse.
That was published by the Telegraph on January 2 when we had lost just once out of the last 21 games. We were in the semi-final of the League Cup and had just recorded our best ever Champions League group performance. We had achieved this despite being hit by injuries and Covid 19. It was essentially a totally fake story. Absurd is the right word to describe it. How the bloody hell was it published?

Liverpool Echo proudly boast Liverpool have climbed over City into the 5 richest clubs in Europe.
So we can assume that all the silly remarks about City's wealth will stop? Not a snowball's chance in hell.
I'm surprised they aren't giving away free gold badges with every copy of that shit rag so that the full kit wankers can stick it next to the emblem of their money laundering sponsors and the other badges celebrating all of our records that they nearly broke
