I don’t either.

If HHSM had bought the rags, the articles about how much good he has done for the city and the area would be rammed down your throat at every opportunity. Just look at how they treat Rashford and his (wholly admirable) campaign to feed hungry kids, and then imagine the entire club and its owners getting the same praise. Then times it by a thousand.

What we are facing isn’t racism. It is greed.

The grinning beards comment is plainly racist in origin, as was some of the treatment of Sterling. I’ve no doubt that there is some racism at the heart of some content, just as there is a racist section of some parties of the media’s readership. But overwhelmingly it seems to me that the coverage we get is pro rag/dipper in origin rather than anti dark face. This is only my opinion, of course, but you get 5he explanation by following the money.

You are right that commercialism underpins the negative coverage we get from many sections of the media. The sad truth is that papers like the Daily Express and Mail are pandering to their audience and they know that a racist undertone goes down quite well with a portion of their readership.
There are also some individuals in the media who produce anti-arab tropes sometimes for political reasons, sometimes for racist reasons, sometimes for religious reasons, sometimes just because they support a different football team and hate City.
But the bottom line is that City do not get impartial coverage from huge sections of the mainstream media. We suffer from biased and unfair coverage and it has not improved in the past decade.
