Moves are afoot to stop breakaways.
The 50+1 rule is under consideration.
Ultimately these moves will fail because they are trade restraints. Few people in the football hierarchy understand that, legally, the breakaways did nothing wrong.
The first moves should be about bringing debt into ffp calculations. Debt caused the spanish clubs to push the superliga at this moment. Longer term, UEFA must become a regulator only and not a promoter of tournaments. Herein lies a big issue: clubs sit on the executive of UEFA and have a vested interest in shaping those tournaments. The new CL format is an example, more games, co-efficient engineering, protected status for 'legacy' clubs. A regulator should be putting player welfare ahead of money making. So, look to the organization's name and get clubs off the boards.
Many more measures available, but enough for now.
City fans? Demand meaningful fan representation within the club, not patronizing talking shops.
Hits nail on the head. The two points you raise are crucial. Debt is killing the game and you can't have a situation where the Regulator (UEFA) is in commercial competition with the clubs for sponsorship. UEFA can't work unless it is truly independent. These are the two biggest problems in football.

only 2 clubs who have benefited from the 50 + 1 model in germany

bayern and Dortmund.

id even go as far as saying Bayern has benefited the most.

they were crying when red bull got involved with Leipzig
Only one really. Dortmund was actually bailed out by Bayern at one stage. Dortmund is just a feeder club. German football has been destroyed by Bayern's stranglehold on investors. Schalke with 60,000 crowds have just been relegated. The 50 plus one model would destroy English football by making it impossible to invest. They have a different fan ownership model in Spain which has ensured domination by Barca and Real for decades and creamed off most of the money.

It's absolute bollocks.

A 51 per cent stake in City is worth about £2bn.

We also have other shareholders, who gives up what?

More importantly, where the fuck do the fans get the money to give owners of the clubs their other half back?
there was a guy on the radio explaining the 50 plus 1 method at dormund
The owner still actually owns the club the fans don't stump up 51 % of the money they just have a say in the major votes ie super league involvement new stadium etc

Brings it down to what everything is about, money.

Every political figure/chairman etc have the morals of a sewer rat and would sell their partners kidney if they could turn a profit.

Been like that forever but in these social platform & media runarounds now it's seen as it is, no shame and blatant.
Hello. Kidney for sale. Just £50. Pm me.

The whole 51% rule is nonsense. It killed German football. The premier league is the most competitive league hands down. The only people who want a weaker English league is the cartel.

Now I would not be against some form of legislation. It would force clubs to be more transparent. As an historic institution MCFC would have to make it public knowledge to the fans any substantial changes. For example, say HHSM wanted to change the name of the club or in this case wanted to participate in a super league. One of the major problems with the super league is how it ended up being reported. It was a shambles from start to finish and left a vacuum for mouthpieces like spity and rat face to create their own narrative.

Never thought I’d feel any sympathy for Platini, but he did warn about debt and its corrosive effect on club finances, as early as the 2000’s, and was threatened by legal action by the old (debt laden) cartel if he pursued that particular line.
Now here we are, the same debt-ridden old clubs thrashing around, desperate to raise money by any means possible to shore up their failures.
They should look up and see the huge flocks of chickens coming home to roost.
Meanwhile, we are apparently ruining football.

Agreed but I actually thought the reason Platini took the debt element out of FFP was because he was bought not because of any legal threat. We'll probably never know the truth. The UEFA FFP rules are still absurd. How can you have a financial control that takes no account of debt?

No. What they've been doing for the iast 13 years was based on jealousy and barely disguised racial bias. So we treated that with a pinch of salt. This will be different. Lots on here go ballistic when certain gentlemen of the press vent their spleen in our direction, but we know the motivation and most laugh it off. Now the motivation will have moral force. 95% of us voted no to the superliga. Now just roll over and shrug?
You can euphemise by saying "grow a thicker skin" but reputation matters.

Oh gosh
