The whole 51% rule is nonsense. It killed German football. The premier league is the most competitive league hands down. The only people who want a weaker English league is the cartel.

Now I would not be against some form of legislation. It would force clubs to be more transparent. As an historic institution MCFC would have to make it public knowledge to the fans any substantial changes. For example, say HHSM wanted to change the name of the club or in this case wanted to participate in a super league. One of the major problems with the super league is how it ended up being reported. It was a shambles from start to finish and left a vacuum for mouthpieces like spity and rat face to create their own narrative.
The rags would be more transparent if they revealed full details of their money laundering and tax dodging bank account in the Cayman Islands.

Agreed but I actually thought the reason Platini took the debt element out of FFP was because he was bought not because of any legal threat. We'll probably never know the truth. The UEFA FFP rules are still absurd. How can you have a financial control that takes no account of debt?
You may be right about Platini’s motivation, but either way it demonstrates a complete lack of testicular fortitude on his part.

Only one really. Dortmund was actually bailed out by Bayern at one stage. Dortmund is just a feeder club. German football has been destroyed by Bayern's stranglehold on investors. Schalke with 60,000 crowds have just been relegated. The 50 plus one model would destroy English football by making it impossible to invest. They have a different fan ownership model in Spain which has ensured domination by Barca and Real for decades and creamed off most of the money.

Schalke despite having a lot more income than other 14 to 15 clubs in Germany have been relegated. That does not have anything to do with 50+1 but with bad management...

You cannot pin that on the 50+1 model. And getting rid of the 50+1 model does not solve the "German problems" either.

Lots of talk about supporters ‘owning’ 50+1% of the club but who exactly will have the say on how to cast that vote? The supporters club? How do they cast that vote? You have all seen on here how divided we can be at the best of times (apart from SL).

Agree the 50+1 model is not going to happen. I believe the CFG is valued at over £2 billion, so I don’t think SM would give 51% away & I certainly don’t see City fans raising over £1 billion to buy 51% shares. Never going to happen

Try £3.7bn on the money that Silver Lake paid.

Still a tough whip round, eh?

Leaving any decision to supports is mental. We cant even agree on who should play in the first 11.

Football fans are customers nothing more nothing less. The business owners use our loyalty against us.

It is a cutthroat nasty business in many ways.

It's not about ownership, it's about control. The owner keeps the full ownership the fans would have the 51% control. Especially when it comes to renaming stadiums, which leagues and competitions we take part in, etc.

I see what people are saying though.

Look at the state of the Bundesliga. How much has it helped the league stay competitive? 9 in a row.

Look at Bayern and Qatar, despite none of the fans wanting anything to do with Qatar. Where did that vote go?

Why would the owner of a limited company ever give 51% control to his customers? Especially after investing over £1.3 billion of his own money? Never gonna happen & im glad it won’t

Aye but I think that was a reason they didn't go for the ESL. Barcelona were subject to a fan vote on the issue too. But tbh I don't know if they would have a way of circumventing the fan vote.

Nonetheless the German model seems to work and we seem to be copying that. I don't think any meaningful changes will be made in the end anyway.
