Am l right in thinking its not regular media but the what's app crap who are pushing this at the moment? It seems too stupid for most papers.
Aden was quite a scary place in 1966 just before Britain pulled out. It had been an important staging point by sea and air between 'Blighty' and India and further on.
Remember mad Mike?

Differences between Yemen and the Ukraine.
In one an invading force is attacking locals who are being supported with hardware from the west.
In the the other the population of the country are fighting each other depending on politics and/or religion with many factions but mainly three. One group who have pushed out the recognised government are fighting against two others who are supported by the Saudis backing one of them and the UAE the other. Both the UAE and the Saudis have the backing of the USA & UK governments. This is simplifying the situation but broadly accurate. In a nutshell what many biased media types forget is that we have an uninvited nation destroying a neighbour's lives and infrastructure. And its easy to take sides. In the other it depends on your bias, politics or tribalism which side you support but to pick on the UAE because a recognised government has asked for their help is not comparable with what is happening in the Ukraine.
Good summary and Yemen is also a proxy war between Iran and Saudi Arabia

In his live coverage of the last night's match in the Guardian Barry Glendenning claimed City fans were chanting "Come on Citeh" (his spelling). I emailed him to point out that's not how it's pronounced in Manchester and he's come back accusing me of all sorts of stuff and saying I should be spending more time worrying about the war and refugees. Very touchy fellow.
A fucking sex deviant and a wrong un.

How long was that banner up? Did any press say it was disrespectful?
One journo on Moday club claimed he had never seen it.

I don’t think the banner was up on display as long as their banner on the Stretford end mocking how many years we didn’t win a trophy for. Did the press ever bring up how disrespectful that was?

I don't do social media so could you give me a quick precis of all this crap about sanctions against City. It seems to be because the UAE abstained from voting against the Russian invasion or is it because of the Yemen conflict now being used to have a go against City
When and how did it all erupt. I am guessing that it is the usual social media suspects but if you know of an account in a reliable paper l would like to be able to read it up myself.
I am no expert on Geopolitics and I am sure others on here would know better. According to Google though the UAE abstained only on the orginal vote but has subsequently voted in favour of UN resolutions. These further votes have apparently not been covered by the UK press.

Even Tommy Toucans is getting beaten by the "most neutral fans don't want Chelsea or Newcastle to win" stick by the Journo's in his pre-match press conference.

Half-and-half scarf fans matter.

In a nutshell they are hoping, without logic, to use the current environment created by the government's sanctions on Abramovich to root out 'state' ownership of City & Newcastle.

From what I've read, their geopolitical contributions show why football is their 'speciality'. Miguel Delaney stated on Wednesday/Thursday that the UAE was orbiting towards Russia from the West after it's abstention (which as you state, in later voted in favour of) @ the UN on Ukraine, only for the UAE to announce literally hours later that it was producing more crude oil to alleviate rising fuel costs in the West. You actually can't make it up.

Without blowing my own, I consider geopolitics with regards to Eastern Europe to be something I'm fairly knowledgeable about. It's quite insulting to see football journalists using, lets face it, their own football tribalism to deflect what's happening there, in order to use the current climate to target Middle-Eastern owned football clubs because their own clubs are now shite. All very poor.

The fact is whether they like it or not, their views on football aren't going to dictate key relationships between the West & key allies in the Gulf. The fact they can't differentiate between a UN mandated intervention in Yemen & the Russian invasion of Ukraine shows their ignorance in these matters. None of this matters in regards City in any event, as we're owned by Sheikh Mansour in a private capacity.

The clock banner was hanging in a prominent position and sanctioned by the club from 2002 to 2011.
