I don't think we bottled it in '77, we finished 2 points behind, just unlucky. I was at Derby away and we were the better team in the 1st half. in the 2nd half Dave Watson (I think) headed onto the bar from a corner at 0-0. Had that gone in it might have ended differently. Once they got the first it was a different game.
We took an impressive away following that day and were incredibly loud, chanting all game. We certainly made a lot more noise than them. Imagine my surprise when I got back in time to watch us on match of the day that evening. I remember saying to my Mam that I don't understand why you can hardy hear the City fans chanting but you could hear the Derby fans who sounded really loud - when I had been and it was the other way round.

Same kind of era, but a few years later I remember a similair thing at the 1981 Cup Final on the Saturday.
That afternoon I was at the tunnel end amongst the City fans . Even though the atmosphere at Cup Finals could be known to be a bit 'flat' (often too much tension and too many tickets going to neutrals) the City fans were still in pretty good voice.
MOTD that night all you could hear was the bloody Spurs fans (in particular that annoying 'when Steve goes up to lift theFA Cup 'dirge) It does sound louder when you are amongst the crowd but I'm sure they put more microphones at their end that day!

I still think they will be able to hold sway over the rest of the pack with a 55% majority. After all, they only need to convince another 3 teams to jump on board with their plans. It's certainly going to be an interesting few years.
