Media Thread - 2021/22

As someone said earlier CAS didn't have any documents just photocopies of doctored emails. Also my view is the whole case was over 15 minutes after it started and the next day and a half was just a showcase. You are right it was a trial by media driven by their links to the hateful eight. The media are now in a self repeating tailspin of lies, they hit earth go up again with the same parachute of lies hit earth again and go up again. The real hurt is that our owners are so thorough, professional and successful that City's success is almost guaranteed whilst we are owned and run by these professionals. People who don't see City as a milking operation but as a group to drive onwards relentlessly. This is the poison ivy that irritates and hurts the media and unfortunately there is no calamine lotion to ease this.
PS. I just love this thread almost as much as the joke thread. That is where I am heading now to see the latest additions.
In fact UEFA didn't even have photocopies of the emails. All they had in their trove of 'evidence' were photocopies of articles that appeared in Der Spiegel.

At least the BBC have put an article up about Haaland's performance today.
I think Sly must still be throwing up

In that case maybe the "trial" did not even last 5 minutes. When the ten bob millionaires who forced the issue met professionals they were made to look like planks. That could be why Gill and Parry do their dirty work away from prying eyes so they don't look like tossers again. But they are still there doing their dirty work and I would think our club knows this and do take measures to combat them.
Off to the joke thread again;-)

It makes you wonder how the PL are getting on with their own politically-motivated investigation into City which they started after pressure from our commercial rivals. It is heading for four years now and they have not produced a shred of evidence that City did anything wrong. It was started at the same time as the Der Spiegel claims which were totally debunked by CAS. As is well known now UEFA didn't actually have any valid evidence so it is difficult to see how the PL could have achieved a different outcome. But in the meantime the PL has still managed to damage our club's reputation just by prolonging this total farce.

Would not surprise me if City applied to the court for dismissal on the grounds that 4 years of investigation was onerous. A word of caution: a lot of guesswork here as the discussions with the PL are “secret” until resolved.

I get the impression that the PL are desperate to for the whole thing go away but don't know how to do it without losing face as well as fending off the pressure on them from the American owned clubs in red.

The whole concept of taking the moral high ground over sports teams or tournaments being wholely or partly funded by the middle east is riddled with hypocrisy. Pretty much every single sport, including its clubs and the journalists who use the term sportswashing are all in some way or other being funded by money from the middle east the same way as from the USA. The modern world is one big mixing pot and the richest regions will always have money to invest globally. Those that pick and choose what they call out as distasteful are complete hypocrites. From football to golf, there is vast amounts of middle eastern money driving the sports via sponsorship, without it the sports wouldn't be as successful and the journalists wouldn't have the worldwide audience to increase their own wages (or maybe the yanks would finally get their own way and end up running the whole show)
Sportswashing is a totally fake concept. In the last decade the UAE has invested scores (probably hundreds) of billions of pounds in the UK economy. Apart from the Dubai tourism industry's major links to the UK there has been huge investment in our science, technology, renewable energy, and financial sectors. For example around 15 per cent of the finance sector in Dubai is operated by UK firms. Meanwhile the Saudis are one of our biggest trading partners with at least 10,000 jobs in the UK (mostly in Lancashire) dependent on BAE selling weapons. Why do we never see headlines about tourism washing, money washing, science washing, gun-washing etc etc?
Sheikh Mansour has personally tripled his money on his investment in Manchester City (even ignoring his huge profits from the Manchester science and property sectors). He is making lots of money. In fact he will soon be making more money from these new sectors than oil-related revenues which are in long-term decline.

I am convinced it is a re-run of the UEFA case where they desperately tried to force City into accepting a bogus lesser charge so they could save face but City told them to fuck off. PL CEO Richard Masters is in an impossible situation but he has to show some courage and do the right thing. Everyone thinks he is a puppet of LFC and MUFC who incredibly were allowed to vet his appointment. But the PL has never been financially stronger and City are a huge part of that. It is not the 1990s any more.
