That quaint notion was ditched some time ago. The BBC even slip an advertisement of an upcoming BBC programme into the national news!Product placement. Nothing more nothing less. If I had the money, I'd pay a phd student to carry out research into coverage of these clubs. I'm sure advertising must be against the BBC's charter.

The BBC has a commercial subsidiary called BBC Studios which rakes in about £1.5 billion every year. Advertising is very lucrative to the BBC.
