I like how the Guardian now seem to share the City hate and snide digs around between their writers, rather than leaving it all to Conn, Nakrani, Jackson, Glendenning. Makes the individuals seem less obsessed if its not the same names slagging us off all the time.
It’s a bit like Wenger’s Arsenal and their rotational fouling, where different players would take turns to nobble the opposition’s star men in an attempt to avoid yellow and red cards
The one thing most of them have in common is that they are London-based posh boys who have enriched themselves from the property boom in the South of England. The Guardian has become a parody of itself. It is totally out of touch with people outside the M25 especially those who weren't born with a silver spoon in their mouth.

The growth of the Uae in the last 20 odd years has been in order to move away from reliance on oil. It couldn’t be more wrong.
And Sheikh Mansour is one of the world's biggest investors in renewables. Still don't let the truth get in the way of the fake narrative.

It would have even far better for us to buy up some of the houses around Maine Road, leave them empty and to go derelict, thereby forcing the other residents out. We could have then bought these houses at a knockdown price. Once we owned whole streets, knock them down and build a new stand.
Nobody would get away with something like that. Its ludicrous.
Oh wait.........

No, no, it was “prime real estate” according to this lunatic

I was in my late teens at the time, but my uncle lived in one of the homes being purchased for the development for the commonwealth games. In the area this chap considers prime real estate. I’m sure he got not much more than £25k for his house. He was dead then mind. It went to my gran.

It's a double whammy Sports washing while making a profit.

I particularly liked the line.

"Addicted to Oil revenue"

Ironic wasn’t it? In an article about diversifying his revenue…

Another doozy of a line was “one of the worst human rights records in the middle east”.
The Middle East ain’t that big, and the UAE are no where near the likes of Iran, Iraq, Syria, Saudi, Yeman or Egypt.

So, the UAE has one the best human rights records in the Middle East.

One last thing. Thank fuck that "casino" plan never went through. If it had been successful it would have turned the city into Europe's gambling addiction capital and if it had failed we'd have been stuck with sites that no one would know what to do with.

Let's just hope the new arena brings some more jobs and bars and restaurants to the area (for selfish reasons as a seasoncard holder as much for residents).
