A non competitive era? We have two recent champions league winners in the Premier League in Liverpool and Chelsea. We also have a recent finalist in Spurs, we also have one of the most highest profile sporting organisations in the world with vast amounts of turnover in the rags.

What other league has that type of competition? There’s only two teams in La Liga and Bayern have lorded it over the rest of Germany for years. The majority of the Premier League teams have higher revenues And turnover than the most of the teams in the champions league.

United’s early competitors during the beginning of the Premier League were Norwich and Villa followed by a flash in the pan by Blackburn and Newcastle tried but did nothing. They only got competition when Wenger turned up and then Abramovich bought Chelsea, they literally had nearly the first decade of the Premier league unopposed and had the luxury of a one team champions league for extra money. How many trophies would City have had if we had those conditions to compete in.
And what did they do when they got competition for European places? They upped the number of spaces available so they didn’t miss out. Next thing was they were still missing out and not dining at the top table so they brought in protectionist rules to try to eliminate competition, they deserve everything they fucking get

Almost as good as the United and Liverpool forums, who are now peddling the narrative of our supposed guilt putting no legitimacy on any Treble we achieve.

All the same, it will be good for football, because the penny will finally drop that we are bad for it and making a mockery of everyone else.

Can I just place on record my thanks, for two clubs trying to save the English game, having led and conspired to Create the Super League.

I particularly like their assertions that we are winning in an era where the competition isn't up to scratch, despite having to attain 100 and 98 points to get over the line and having won five of our recent six titles on the final day of the season...
RAWK is absolutely hilarious today - they are broken - I pray we are cleared of any wrong doing as I can honestly see them breaking down

The United and Liverpool forums are very toxic places they are basically made up of people who only started following because the teams were successful, now they are not what have they got left? It's quite sad seeing a bunch of grown men losing their shit over something they have and will never have control of

Sadly, too many posters on these forums are not fans of football but followers of success. Their prejudices and agendas highlight their entitlement to be associated with success.

There are 92 clubs in the top English football leagues, each with their own loyal supporters whose voice is seldom heard. City has been down with the dead men but rose again to be top of the tree. If you cannot understand the appeal of ups and downs in football then they would be better following sport in the USA.

They will all be rubbing their hands and hoping beyond hope they all get given them at a later date!

We could do with that all getting resolved pretty quickly now. IMO this team is going to eclipse the first Pep team in terms of trophies won at least, and I'd rather not have "Manchester City have been charged with 115 breaches...." as an addendum to every article and inserted into every discussion whilst we watch this brilliance unfold.

Just seen Beth Rigby on Sky news interviewing Purslow
If anyone has twitter give it her with both barrels please...state owned , dominating football by spending more ....and infinitum.... grr..

She will be clueless about football and just spouting what she has read day in day out last 10+ years!

Maybe just tweet who “check if Abu Dhabi is a state before parroting the media narrative”

Quotes Abu Dhabi appalling human rights.whilst ignoring Saudi. Nation oil state owns City, spent “billions” “two first team squads”. The woman is a fraud, do your research you stupid fucker.

Also, Purslow against the fan led review and an independent Governing body which we are backing, she doesn’t take him to task on that.

Insidious interview to pander to the US red shites.

Fucking sick of the absolute lies being repeated ad infinitum about our Club, two teams, biggest spenders, oil money, cheats, etc etc.

Chelsea have spent over £600m on players and Frank’s win percentage at Chelsea is 0%. Now I k ow it’s only a few games but it’s not easy marrying money to a talented squad, it’s about the way the team is built and managed and reflects the superb governance of the club as a football entity.
She deserves a kicking many times over , obviously in no more than 140 characters at a time;)

Putting aside that I am a City fan through and through and have been all my football supporting life - I think the constant narrative that we have achieved what we have only because we have had more wealth than anyone else is pure and utter nonsense. In fact the standard of sport journalism in this country is a race to the bottom pure and simple. That is perhaps another discussion.

Let us look at the lineup we had last night - Erling apart, who clearly made his choice between us and Madrid so would have never signed for another PL team - Most could have been easily signed by any of the top three or four. Simply put we have the best recruitment structure in world football - Who had ever thought of Dias and Akanji being world class before we identified them?

Without comparing players and what the others have paid for similar a few examples could be Arsenal spending 73m+ on Pepe. Utd 73m on Sancho.47m on Fred & 67m on Bruno. Chelsea - Christ their waste has been epic. Liverpool 48m on Naby Keita & 74m on Van Dyke. Tottenham - Ndombele 54m. I actually think Newcastle have done quite well in terms of value, I suspect they have learnt a bit from what we have done.

In other words pound for pound how can these muppet journalists draw any negatives on what we have done since the dark days of vastly overspending on signing Santa Cruz, Jo and the like - they could criticise those dealings and even we would admit that would be fair. All big clubs have wasted millions - difference is they sweep that reporting under the rug and just attack City.

I think the most important thing that outsiders miss is how we as a club and Pep in particular value players as people and how they are off the field as well as on it.

So in summary I don't listen to any of them anymore, they are just bitter and jealous. We are not stupid, it will not last for ever but for now each & every one of them should be like we do in thanking us for changing the way teams play in this country & also pushing standards so high that maybe one day the national side will appoint a manager who will not waste the unbelievable work our manager and club has done at improving each and every individual who dons the greatest shirt in football. (maybe I didn't put my true feelings aside after all!)
