Nearly all of the first paragraph you’ve quoted is utter nonsense.
It’s just Wilson doing what he does best: writing with no thought or understanding based on the mandate set by those on high at The Guardian.
It’s been obvious from their recent coverage that a coordinated campaign to delegitimise our achievements has been launched.
But I think blues should prepare themselves for more of this, from many more outlets, especially if we win the treble.
If we thought the knives have been out up to this point, wait until we become the greatest ever PL side.
If I had to take a guess, I'd say none. What evidence does Carragher have that we are a "state run" club
The Guardian are looking at the wider geo-political ramifications of our success via funding/investment form the Middle East. Their agenda is obvious and they don't clearly don't like the change in the established status quo. Their approach is borderline racist IMO. I don't recall The Guardian including negative quotes about the state-sponsored doping programmes of athletics and other sports by the countries of the former USSR and China during the Olympics but perhaps that suited their agenda better at the time?
Thankfully, others have a different agenda and can see the end product on the pitch for what it is. Sublime football played at the highest level. We are truly fortunate to see it for ourselves.
