AI will be its death knell.

Don't need to be paying writers when they can have something doing it for free.
The print industry is finished but there is still an appetite for "news" on digital channels. The problem is that to generate huge traffic online and on social channels you have to produce mindless propaganda. To a large extent the content produced reflects its audience. I believe there are still millions of football fans who want to read sensible and balanced content and perhaps someone will attempt to provide it one day. But I have always been a bit of an optimist.

Thats what the Athletic was supposed to do until it realised that writing objective & intelligent stuff wasn't what their UK readers, conditioned on a diet of red-top clickbait, wanted. So they did clickbait, but in longer pieces with longer words.

Agreed. And the main problem they had was that the standard of journalism from those they recruited was just too low to provide impartial coverage. Most football hacks these days never reveal any new information (there are a few exceptions). Their content is based on half-truths cut and paste from the Internet or distorted quotes from press conferences. So much content these days is provided by people who have no journalistic qualifications or background. Clickbait is all they can do.

Seems like there is no real downside to having a pop at City, you don't have to believe it. Just an easy way to increase status and readership, repeat something already written a million times about City being cheats. An absolute home banker. Do hope these people get their comeuppance one day.

It is still the case that most football supporters (of all other clubs) despise MUFC and LFC but both these clubs have a big chunk of the overall audience between them. An anti-City story gets big traction from LFC and MUFC fans (plus all the racists who hate Arabs). It is an easy hit for a a lazy reporter who is measured on the clicks his stories receive.

Can't be scared of something you can't control.

The wheels of life turn fast, all you can do is stay in your own lane and go at your own pace, even if you feel left behind.

My best contribution to life is now bringing my kids up to appreciate those things which existed before and can continue to exist.

Thinking for yourself, not relying on your phone as another limb, reading books, enjoying music from all eras, talking to the opposite sex.

And, most important, hating United with every core of their being and don't pollute my bloodline.

AI can have the rest.
Brilliant post mate, feel uplifted reading that, all very true what you said.

AI algorithms already impacting digital content, the written word will die, just as it did for letter writing.

Here’s an article I wrote for the red rag media.

Titled - Projection

City's alleged FFP violations have led to cheating accusations in the media and from rival fans. The definition of ‘cheating’, especially when it comes to football, is to break the rules or laws of the game, to gain ‘an unfair advantage’. However, FFP created an unfair advantage in the game, in favour of certain clubs, to the detriment of others. FFP hinders new club ownership and perpetuates the very essence of an unfair advantage. UEFA, PL and the red media have lied to us, to try and disguise it as something it isn’t. But when it was introduced, it was inherently unfair and biased towards established clubs. This completely contradicts FIFA's principles.

1. Principle of Fairness: FIFA's statutes emphasise the importance of fairness and equal treatment in football. If FFP rules were intentionally crafted to create an unfair advantage for established clubs, it could be argued that, this principle has been violated.

2. Integrity and Ethics: FIFA's regulations place a strong emphasis on maintaining integrity and ethical conduct in football (laughable I know). But, If FFP rules were intentionally designed to manipulate competition and undermine fair play, this is a massive violation of these principles.

3. Anti-Discrimination: Discrimination based on factors such as ownership or club status, could potentially conflict with FIFA's regulations against discrimination. If FFP rules were intentionally designed to discriminate against certain clubs or owners, it may be deemed a breach of these regulations.

4. Prohibition of Abuse of Power: FIFA's regulations aim to prevent the abuse of power, or the creation of an unfair advantage by individuals or entities. If FFP rules were intentionally implemented to favor established clubs, it can be easily argued that this constitutes an abuse of power and violates FIFA's regulations, in this regard.

According to the red shirt media, we may have cheated in 2012 to beat Utd to the title. Because we may have inflated sponsorship, in order to be able to spend more money to compete with them. However, to prevent any club, from being able to spend money to compete is unfair. We should’ve been allowed to spend a modern day equivalent, to the cost of their entire squad, or even their 10 year spending. It would’ve been no detriment to us as club, it presented a completely unfair advantage and It’s an absolutely huge contradiction to what cheating actually is in the media.

Utds squad spending in a 5 year period between 2001-2008, was absolutely insane. Take inflation into consideration, it would be over £2.5 Billion in todays money, no exaggeration. It was far beyond anything, we have ever seen, we just didn’t know it at the time, because no one cared about spending money then, as it was before the days of mega rich ‘foreign’ owners. To prevent ‘our owner’, from being able to put together a squad with the same value (inflation adjusted), is an unfair playing field. Especially considering we were working with hugely inflated transfers because THEY had inflated them (along with Chelsea), in previous seasons.

A lot of their players bought in the period between 01-08, were part of their squad that lost the league to City in 2012. To put it into some perspective, Utd paid roughly the same amount of money, to buy both Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney 8-9 years earlier. As City spent, to buy Joe Hart, Zabaletta, Kompany, Clichy, Nasri, David Silva and Yaya Toure.

Despite the limitations of FFP being put on us, and a cap on our spending, in comparison to their already built squad and then much larger legal transfer/wage budget. We still managed to have a plan, to create a better team, a better way of playing, and the foundation of a successful style of football, and we still managed to beat them on the pitch. We managed to beat them, even though UEFA and PL tried to stop us from doing so. THEY tried to cheat us, not the other way around and now their puppet media are doing the dirty work to try and confuse everyone.

They have resorted to a psychological warfare tactic, known as "projection." Projection involves accusing someone else of engaging in behavior or actions, that you are guilty of yourself. It is ultimately a defence mechanism, whereby individuals attribute their own unacceptable actions onto others. The purpose of projection in psychological warfare, is to manipulate perceptions, create confusion, and influence the behavior or beliefs of the target audience, to steer them away from the actual truth. By projecting negative intentions onto an adversary, the psychological warfare operator, aims to discredit or demonise them in the eyes of others. The goal is to shape public opinion, create distrust, or provoke fear or anger towards the targeted entity. This is why, we see so many, ‘absolute blatant lies’ said about City in the media. This is why the ones who are cheating, are trying to call us out as cheaters. This whole FFP thing is a complete farce, it’s a total waste of time and a complete hatchet job, from start to finish.

An excellent post. This should be sent to the person appointed to be the new government overseer of football.
